Is there an ombudsman for this sort of situation? Might also be worth sending a copy of your email to You and Yours at BBC R4 as they deal with a lot of consumer issues like this and claim to read every email they get?

Sp sorry you are having to deal with this 💩 as well.

Thanks @teapot2 we're currently nagging Thames to tell us who has said we can't get another permit so we can check with whoever it is at the council, then work out who's actually mostly at fault here (other than Thames for doing eff all in their booked time)

Am I right in thinking council tax isn't payable until the property is habitable which it isn't without a water supply.

That is right to our knowledge @badmemory

Which is good as we don't have to pay council tax until its habitable, but we can't get it signed off until its habitable with all utilities in place which is going to be a tight squeeze between being able to live there and transferring accounts.

Energy company want a standing order fee once connected even if there's no use or we're generating our own and we don't really want to waste that money especially if its for months and months.

And internet provider wants two months notice for transfer date but we have to judge it really carefully as that will be when we don't have internet (and means to work) at our current place, and who knows how long Thames and council will take to resolve this if they even do, and what the verdict on extra partition wall will be from building controller, and what other unexpected delays might crop up

try speaking to your local councillor. Council managers jump for elected members!

Hi @ArtyJ931 thanks for your suggestion and welcome aboard! Unfortunately the last time we involved our local councillor, they were also completely ignored by the council and ended up emailing us asking us to tell him anything we ever heard from the planning department for his future reference!

maybe all councils are different! Where I work if an elected member gets involved with a complaint it is dealt with come hell or high water!

Sorry if anyone is getting notifications that don't exist, the forum seems to have lost even more basic functionality 🙄

Nice to know people are vaguely respected round your manor @ArtyJ931 our council planning department doesn't even have an email address you can use
