  • I'm not really a onesie person @beanielou but someone was getting rid of it and I was like a) free b) looks and is cosy and comfy c) has owls. What's not to like, other than you really must go for a wee as soon as you need to if you have any manoeuvring issues 😁
  • By the way all, this evening I have finished Circe by Madeline Miller and I would thoroughly recommend. I was hesitant that my lack of knowledge about Greek mythology would make it a struggle but it's just a gorgeous book with no prior education needed, though I'm sure if you do know about Greek mythology you'd get even more from it

I’ve been reading all along PIP but not commenting very often. Just wanted to say how entertaining and insightful your posts are. I really enjoy catching up and sympathise with all your woes. Big hugs for the horrid things.

Your mention of Circe caught my eye. Have you read ‘The Song of Achilles’ by the same author? Absolutely brilliant book. Couldn’t put it down.
Just a thought for future reading.

Also wanted to weigh in on the sit ups. No. Nope. Not happening. Who invented those? It’s like those things they call burpees. Who the heck would want to do them? I understand the exercises where you lie flat and curl up your top and bottom half to meet and then do mini movements. But a full sit up? Gah! That was invented by a man - no uterus, no periods, no soft and fleshy curves women are meant to have, no post partum stitches, no stretchy hips, and definitely no menopause tummy. Blimey. Didn’t realise I had such strong feelings about them!

Anyway. I hope you have a pain free, positive day ahead. ☺️

Hi Pennysintopounds, Just dropping in to say not to be too hard on yourself. The limbo stage re accommodation, being able to set up home with Mr PiP, plus daily pain from your joint condition would be enough to get anyone down at times, I'm sure. I don't think any of us in the 'Tuppence Club' would think that you were moany or negative. We all have days where we feel like flinging nuts at the wall (hopefully not the sort which are attached to people) & who amongst us could genuinely say that they love doing sit-ups? Not me for sure. I don't think I could even perform a sit-up with Mr F holding my feet to the floor these days! There are a few of us on here managing various health concerns - me included after all the tests/scans shenanigans of this year - & absolutely all of us will have days where we just feel like going into sweary fish-wife mode.....I have fishwives in my ancestry, so feel I can use the term without prejudice. I have always been known for my eloquence on paper - upset me in real life & it's a bit different. A teacher, on overhearing me delivering a highly witty put-down to a fellow pupil, said "Sarcasm, Foxgloves, is the very lowest form of wit". I had never heard this phrase before (I was about 11 or 12) & sat jaw-agape as I thought how much I utterly disagreed with it. I know I still tend to deal with difficult situations, people or my own moods by going into leery mode, but that's the point I'm making. We all have these days. It is normal & we mustn't beat ourselves up about it.
Hoping you hear from the Council soon. Even if it is a 'no', at least you will know & be able to research other possible avenues. All this waiting must be very frustrating.
I was pleased to hear that your cat doesn't appear to have any nasties. I am quite a tough cookie on the whole, but I am not good around the whole area of poorly beloved cats.
Just got to keep on b*ggering on, PiP,
    F x

Just popping by to reassure all present that I sometimes have those days, too....

Positive but also slightly unhelpful news from the vets then - great that they haven't found something serious, but also not great that they haven't  managed to pin down the actual cause. Fingers crossed the situation is transient and just rights itself naturally now, and definitely the right call not to put the little floof through another anaesthetic.

I also don't do onesies these days - too time consuming when a toilet visit is required, and also as someone who used to live with a fairly cold bathroom, just too BRRRR!

  • Up at a decent time but could've slept more than nine hours!

    Packing, admin, tidying, comping

Packed train snacks and away consumings to try to save a few quid:
    Carrot and raisins for f&v
Remaining Celebrations (that I like) for choc
Crisp equivalents from the bargainous beer box
A bottle of rosè I bought for a family member for Christmas but gift giving plans have now changed for ease of carrying so thought I might as well take in suitcase rather than buy wine
Made myself a sandwich for the train, but don't worry @EssexHebridean I'll buy one for the train back!

Went to local to where I'm staying Waitrose to get a healthyish ready meal for dinner and got given a free bunch of gorgeous white roses. And I found 1p on the way to the tube earlier!

Absolutely knackered but off out to meet a friend for a few beers which will be lovely.
Going to allow myself as much sleep as I can get tomorrow morning though
  • De-lurking.  Loving your diary.  The only thing about onesies is the freezing cold top half off when one has to . . . go a place.  You've an amusing turn of phrase PiP x

That's a well balanced selection of train snacks.  Is it just a singular carrot v celebrations and crisps?  Seems fairly balanced to me.
have a lovely trip and enjoy catching up with your friend and relaxing.
  • Aw thanks @backinbusiness please do de-lurk anytime! I have to agree with you and @EssexHebridean that the brr is an issue

It was a biggun carrot @Blackcats so worth two portions of F&V, I'm sure everyone on the train was thinking I was a munchy muppet but at least it's seasonal 😁 The Celebrations are for choc necessaries while I'm away but most of the crisps and crisp-like things were eaten en route. But it was important I lined my stomach before drinks!
  • Whoever invented onesies was into some weird S&M ..

hoping life gets easier - when one is in pain it makes everything harder.

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Good to hear there's nothing sinister wrong with the cat.

I don't do onesies or jumpsuits - too much hassle when you need the loo!

Have a lovely time away, you deserve some fun and frivolity 😊
