I keep thinking emanate - e(english) man (fellow) but ate / worried I don't get. Maybe it will give some ideas.1

Thanks @badmemory, yeah I can't make it work either! I'm presuming worried is an anagram indicator and that the whole thing means issue but might be barking up the wrong tree...
Edit:
I guess it could be ate as in 'ate at' for worried though seems a bit tenuous, but then it is cryptic!

I cheated and AI’d it.
Emanate
the clue is a charade type where the answer is built by combining smaller parts.
Issue : this is the definition of the answer. To emanate means to issue or spread out from a source
english, a common crossword abbreviation for this is E
fellow : a common crossword term for man or fellow is man
worried : a common synonym for worried or consumed used in crosswords is ate. (As In it ate at him)
combining these elements gives you emanate

I started doing the Guardian crossword when I was about 8. My mother did it every day & I was her assistant. I learned then why she taught me to read when I was 3. I think I have read every Shakespeare play looking for quotes for her. And oh when they changed compiler!2

I think it definitely takes a certain type! @WelshmansDaughter @doingitanyway
Actually can't cope when they change compiler @badmemory 😂
