Thanks @Sun_Addict but I want the option to be able to withdraw if we need it for a build bill.
And I'm somewhat loathe to open any more accounts with banks as a new customer just in case we do need (please it won't be necessary) to apply for another mortgage.

I have had regular savers with the Nationwide for quite a few years & never known them change the rate during the year.  Of course that doesn't mean they can't, just that they haven't.
£200 a month in both will give you £78 & £60.  Even if the Nwide do reduce during the year it seems unlikely they will reduce it as far as 5%.

Thanks for that @badmemory, unfortunately I don't have enough funds spare to do both, but will probably go for the Nationwide one as that'll mean I should have enough money with them if they do the loyalty reward thingy again

Don’t choose a square loo. That’s what I’ve got and what a nightmare getting replacement seats 😞
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

I don't know how good your mobility is but if you sometimes struggle to stand up from sitting a taller than the norm toilet may be a good idea.  I got mine when I was waiting for my hip replacement & it saved me having a temp one & much more secure.

As you are only going to fund one account I would choose the  Nationwide account:
    1) the higher interest rate
    2) chance of them doing & you qualifying for a fair share payment
    3) they would have to reduce the interest A LOT to be at the same rate as Santander. In my experience Nationwide are more like to make an issue No Longer Available and then launch a new issue with a different interest rate.

Their is no guarantee that they won't change the rate, but fingers crossed they don't 🤞

Don't go for a "slimline" loo - we hadn't realised that's what ours was until we needed a new loo seat and went and bought a standard one from one of the DIY chains and it was too big!!!!  Had to go back to where we'd bought the loo from and order one and it took ages to come!  It's not nice sitting on a broken loo seat pinching your bum when you sit down!
