Apart from the recent debacles they have been very good @EssexHebridean so I don't think they're trying it on so much as they were deliberately non-commital in their breakdown of costs in the original quote. We would have been paying it one way or another so if they want to cause themselves delays by waiting until we research and order grout, that's entirely their lookout.

Olio is brilliant for non food things @doingitanyway, me and mum were saying earlier it is astounding how much stuff is prevented from going to waste by communities having their own little circular 'economies'

It started off soggy here but ended up dry for most of the day.

There’s far too much mention of the C word on these diaries at the moment 😱 🎄

Don't even try it @Sun_Addict, we all see you topping up your c-word pot throughout the year 😁
Gotta pounce on bargainous supplies and gifts when the opportunity's there!
Part of the bundle was a tree clamp stand which I was so happy to be able to get for mum, well worth getting drenched for 💪

Just catching up.  One of the people that has done some work here expects me to buy the materials - but - he does tell me from where and what (and for bigger stuff like fence rails sends me a quote from somewhere so I can either get it there or shop around for same stuff).

OK, so I might have on one time entirely misunderstood (any one need 120 litres of creosote?) but it mostly works out.    So, I think for some trades it is normal  -  but - can you at least ask what grout they want ?  And if they have a suggestion of where you purchase?
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Thanks @Watty1, I asked last week and they haven't replied. Fine by me, we don't have money so any delays they create is helping us!

I wonder if the tradesmen are having you buy the goods because if they did it would put their turnover up & make them need to register for VAT.

Called Virgin about build connections, should hopefully hear back within 48 working hours

Today's build highlight is a ton of the roof tiles are broken. I am simply refusing to get involved with this unless I absolutely have to.

I would like to get mum some snuggly lounge trousers/PJ bottoms/joggers (not tightly elasticated) with thick material as part of her Christmas present.
Does anyone have any recommendations of places with reasonable pricing? Or even unreasonable pricing!
All the obvious places I've looked and have found ones I think she'd like style and colour-wise, seem to have wide legs or are floor skimming. I'm mindful that when her back is sore she's more shuffly so don't want to give her a trip hazard as a gift!

Damart have cuffed joggers in their sale for £12.49 a pair - would they be the sort of thing you're after?  At least with being cuffed there's no chance of them being floor skimming!
