Build admin. As expected, the builder is saying the stairs can't be adjusted unless we want to pay £1800 extra. We do not. Have said I'm not happy and will leave it at that as I am not getting into another week-long stress.
Money is going to be even tighter as apparently all the materials the builders were meant to be providing are actually being provided by us and we have to pay for them upfront. Funnily enough I'm less stressed by this than that we have to provide things like adhesive and grout. It's boring enough spending money on build stuff we're interested in, but having to find time to research and order and pay for adhesive and grout is unhinged.
Fortunately I am a very calm and chill person 😁

We are using up some noodles (and peanut satay in Mr PIP's case) from the cupboard and making stir-fry for dinner so that'll be another couple of bits out.
But first, our evening job of looking at all the lovely tiles and showers and fittings we chose, and seeing if we can get similar but maybe not as nice for cheaper!

I have never heard the like. You have to provide the materials. Surely they supply the materials and you pay for them. My friend had that problem with her builders, I thought she was getting walked over1

Me too @beanielou 😭
To use an irritating but vaguely zen phrase it is what it is @WelshmansDaughter, at least we can look for best price this way.
Annoying but what would we do with ourselves if we didn't have an endless list of ludicrous things to sort out!
I have had to sadly wave goodbye to my mini Scottish manor style bathroom, but we think we have found an affordable (ha!) option for the shower walls. Waiting to hear back from builders if they're willing to cut panels to size. If they'd prefer to have to install hundreds of small tiles instead then that's up to them!5 -

It sounds very much to me as though your builders are trying it on too - surely you would have noticed if their quote had said anything about materials being extra? Pah - bunch of shysters!
