Sorry you made me laugh too - but if it makes you feel any better about carp (or any type of fish!), given the state of my life at the moment my friend's bf plays the Eastender theme tune every time I walk in!  :D
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £6,450.00
Total paid off - £9,150.89 (58% paid off)
  • Blackcats - I'm also giggling about the 12 days of christmas so it's fine, we can go to hell together!

Google docs is one option for the iPad- and I have a vague recollection that open office docs might also open on on there, and open Office of course translates pretty much perfectly across from its microsoft equivalents.

Great result on the oil and the bottles too - £100 is indeed a lovely sum to put into the flat pot.

I can only apologise about giving you fire envy - you're right though, it really is cosy! (Sorry, not helping, I know!)

blue_eyed_girl123 and @Sun_Addict I'll look into those ideas.

That's so funny @twiggy86, I guess that's what friends are for!

Cheers @EssexHebridean for the tech suggestion, various encouragement, and no, You Are Not Helping 😂

Edit: I thought I'd said thanks to blue_eyed_girl123 and @Sun_Addict and on going to edit I had but it's not showing- on my screen at least, so apologies everyone for any current or future inadvertent rudeness, it's mostly the tech not the intention!
  • Today's mse bits:

    Sainsers and M&S receipt surveys
    Small bit of work
Added some beauty items to competition doings for use or resale

Saved £50 on the Black Friday Karcher half price deal by not buying anything at all

Superdrugs veggie omega price has shot right up but at least they were on 3for2 and I have a loyalty card

Ended up selling the patchouli etc to the witch for £90, but she was very much wanting to pay £80 then reluctantly £85 but I politely held firm and haven't been turned into a frog yet. Someone please stage an intervention if I start going 'ribbit'

In a bit of a funny mood having sold that, it's so odd how some things to do with a deceased loved one can be emotionally handled okay and some things hit you a bit more and need extra processing time, and you can never tell which will be which. So I'm having a couple of afternoon pints with Mr PIP and raising a glass to me Da, and giving myself permission to just be for the rest of the day rather than making myself do things that can actually wait til tomorrow.

An easy, nutritious and mse dinner of egg, chip and beans tonight, or as I now think of it, the deluxe version of a @Blackcats date 😁

    Not a huge amount of mse-ing today but;

Housing Association got back to me late as per usual about my complaint about how long they'd taken, with the useful response of an irrelevant letter from a month ago. Have replied saying can they consider this complaint ongoing and maybe even get back to me within their own deadline they set

Usual admin and small bit of work, and have started to include in the competition entries items I don't particularly want or have space for but that can be sold for the flat pot

Got yoghurt (that I would've bought anyway) on discount through shopmium and got a primula squeezy cheese through shopmium too- I wouldn't have bought that usually but I've been intrigued by it's existence for years and am a big fan of cheese so for 50p I thought now was my opportunity to investigate...

Amongst the things my Dad's former partner gave me of his possessions was a bottle of patchouli oil and some sweet little bottles and stoppers. Asked in the local witchy shop if they'd be interested and they offered a hundred quid for the lot which seems reasonable for both parties. Will walk there later this week for the handover.
It always feels a bit odd and sad letting items that were my Dads go, but it's nice that they'll be used and have a new life, and £100 in the flat pot is a good achievement, and he'd be particularly pleased it went to a witchy shop
The squeeze cheese makes a good sauce.  I make creamy garlic mushrooms with it!  Fry off an onion until softened, add some finely chopped or grated garlic, add some cooked sliced or chopped mushrooms and add the squirty cheese using a lowish heat until it melts into a sauce.
  • Today's mse doings:

Work admin, Yougov survey, Poundland receipt survey, shopmium survey

Entered some competitions, today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a thousand pounds

Did wussy situps and was outraged that on weighing myself after two days not having any chocolate or sugary things my weight had gone up! Must be the heavier muscle 👀

Had a scare with eat-everything-cat who started seemingly choking but there was a weird sound like a pestle and mortar grinding. He was fine five minutes later and bothering me for my brunch so no obvious harm done, no idea what he could have tried to eat and his teeth seem okay. So I am now an avid poo watcher. This is what my life has come to 😁 Although if he's eaten a diamond that's been flung into the bushes outside by a fleeing master criminal, then that would be a useful find

Extra achey and not sure why, maybe not healing as much as usual overnight with upstairs noise. But managed a shower and hairwash- it has officially got to the 'stop shaving legs' time of year with lows of zero degrees predicted for the next couple of days

Had a good walk with Mr PIP to the lovely pub that's also a florists, a nice time had and not too expensive bus back. Although annoyingly we lost a domino off the table and couldn't find it despite much searching. I'm presuming parallel universe wormhole. We've left Mr PIP's number with the pub in case they find it, I'm not buying a new set without a full search!

Dinner is a yellow sticker caramelised onion and cheese pizza with salad leaves on the side

Lovely to see all your focus and humour on here !
I also look at flat’s which overlook gardens with horror - I am desperate to have my own tiny patch of dirt for a bbq and a chair outside at the v least

glad you can put the money from your dads bottles into your flat fund how nice

on iPad there is a mac version of word excel etc
called Pages - word equivalent- it’s free to download
Numbers is the excel version but I normally use the Google drive spreadsheets
Google docs is the google version of word - just make sure you are logged in to the correct gmail acct as each one has its own 'drive' with G sheets and G docs

I also love a competition ! Not doing much at present but I have won some lovely things over the years .. you do need time and focus - and you are inspiring me with your ‘which prize would I like to win today’ :)
I often focus on winning london events or gig tickets, dinners etc - as it makes an expensive town more affordable and you get to go to loads plus lot easier to win such things I think than big uk wide competitions
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I enter competitions too but I tend to try and win holidays abroad rather than things in London or breaks in Cornwall - both of which are a long way away for an overnight or couple of days trip!  I only every enter free competitions though never paid for ones.
