Thanks so much for the heads up on Pages @LadyWithAPlan.
I've not won a single thing comping 😂 But I've not been doing it long and you gotta be in it to win it! I find it strangely soothing too.
I never enter paid for ones either @joedenise, don't want to develop a gambling habit and get stressed about losses over something thats meant to be fun and a Brucie Bonus if you do win3 -
I have won loads when I was v focused. To inspire you highlights over 6+ years include an ipad (sold for hse savings as had one), a new mobile, a nutribullet, my pressure cooker/saute 6 in 1, Halfords vouchers, a topshop voucher £250, tix to gig and food events, wireless earbuds, hampers, some Grinch xmas ornaments in a special box that my DN loves but I kinda wish I had kept
, candles and such that have been great xmas gifts, expensive beauty products I will not buy .. plus some mad experiences you cant pay for.
Its a great hobby but its needs time.. I havent done much this year and thus not many wins...
So if you keep doing it then you will win! There is a competitions board on mse thats great.
I dont pay either .. I only enter for stuff I want or useful as specific gifts etc. For me I love an experience so meals out or theatre tix - i saw secret cinema as a win - would have cost £200+ for the tix!
I have a friend who sells a lot of her comp wins but for her its almost a FT job ...
@joedenise I havent yet won a holiday - have you? My mum did win a fab holiday on a comp I sent and she extended the stay so booked another hotel for a week before going to the 6 star hotel resort!
I did win once a London hotel 2 night stay with theatre I gave to my parents and also a £1500 travel voucher.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Not won a foreign holiday yet @LadyWithAPlan but did win a week's camping holiday several years ago at a campsite we wanted to go to anyway but stopped doing comps for a very long time and have only recently starting doing them again.

That is so inspiring @LadyWithAPlan, well done you! I do check out the excellent mse comps, how nice is it to be part of a community where everyone is pitching in for the good of all. I see comps and think to put them up but a more on-it mse-er has always put them up already 😊 Do you have any other insights as to your comping success?
That's a great win @joedenise, hopefully you'll win a less outside-y prize in the next few months 😁1 -
Not a great start to today as I went to have my smear test that has been booked for over a month only to be told I was no longer a patient and the appointment didn't exist.
Fair enough it's my fault for not sorting out a new doctors surgery but since I've been waiting to hear where I live for months it wasn't something I could really do. It's not hard to send someone a text saying the appointment has been cancelled. And I'm not keen on a culture where apparently it's fine for homeless women to have cervical cancer
But off my high horse, at least I got some steps in and was Very Very good resisting all the tempting food smells on the high street, especially when my grump was whispering 'go on, get some lovely warm pastries, you deserve them'
Other than that, did admin, receipt surveys, a coop survey, an infuriating Ylive survey screening me out after answering an absolute ton of profile questions to then chuck me out because I hadn't used a random form of transport. For the love of god, survey providers, make the key question your first question!
My back is really aching today but managed a bit of housework, nice to start the weekend with at least some areas not being a bit of a shambles!
Used up the onion in the fridge for dinner prep rather than being lazy and going for the pre-chopped onion in the freezer (not that having pre-chopped is lazy, but I'd be pretty annoyed with myself if the fridge onion went manky just because I'd gone for the easier option)
Sent the patchouli money to the flat pot, thank you dad for the £90
Got paid for a job so sent a share to the tax pot
Went back up the high street with Mr PIP for a Friday evening beer (Iron Pier's chinook & first gold Joined at the Hop- which is very nice but says it has grapefruit in it so not sure how suitable it is for cask beer drinkers who do tend to be men of a certain age and thus more likely to be on heart medication!) and used the lidl coupon for a saving on coffee while we were out.
Have prepped a veggie lasagne using up some lentils from earlier in the week, and got the free paper to do the crossword over the weekend. Got about a quarter of the answers so far which is respectable for a friday
Hope you're all keeping warm enough, and if you're due a smear test, put it top of your list to book Monday morning! x

Marvellous @Sun_Addict, I shall be checking up that you've done it, like a weirdo cervical santa
Thanks @beanielou, I do try to be honest with myself and check whether I'm getting extra cross or cross on behalf of others to disguise my own failings or amplify my own sense of grievance, and sometimes if I'm being brutally truthful about my human brain those are factors, but I also know all too well being a working class woman with a chronic pain condition and b****r all income and no family property to inherit, that if I wasn't in a strong relationship and/or didn't have a living and loving parent, I would quite likely be one of those people who slip through the cracks while they're trying their best but it's not good enough.
As Granny Aching from Discworld says 'Them as can do, has to do for them as can't. And someone has to speak up for them as has no voices'
And apart from my moral preaching, it's just plain rude to not let someone know you've cancelled their appointment!
Congrats on your wins if you like steak pie @beanielou 😁 Voucher for a favourite retailer is a good win, what comping magic did you cast to get that?2 -

Excellent low effort returns @beanielou! Have you got your eye on anything else or do you just share for a prize when you happen to see it?0
