It sounds like the cat could be coughing - have a look on youtube as there are clips on there. The furry oaf that lives with us has asthma so she coughs sometimes.
We've recently switched to a steroid inhaler as giving tablets to her is like dicing with death (or a trip to A&E at the very least). There is a lovely video also online of a vet nurse giving a tablet to a cat so I called the House Troll to have a look because it bore no resemblance whatsoever to the violence (from the cat not to it) and the chaos (also caused by the cat) that happened in our house at tablet giving time. His verdict was "Look mum, they're in a vet surgery. They've just drugged it so it looks easy. So many people are watching that and wondering what they did wrong as they're mopping up their own blood".
I hope your cat is OK.

Thank you all for good wishes for the cat.
I'll look that up if no answers from the vet tomorrow @CRANKY40, thanks for suggesting it. I don't think I can bear the thought of any cats in vets at the moment, me and Mum had to say goodbye to our dear fluffy family member earlier this year and as that was devastating (we still miss her so much!) I'm obviously thinking all the worse things. Hopefully he'll be okay. He's certainly well enough for his slick 'paw on table, 'discreetly' move paw along table, make a grab and snatch at your meal' move!
Housing situation is somewhat wearing @Blackcats! Yes, they have a deadline of eight weeks. That ran out 22 weeks ago + additional months waiting for response (we haven't got) to complaint about waiting time. This is for a minor change so building would cause less disruption to neighbours, and doesn't include the previous three years Mr PIP's family have all been trying to proceed with it.
The council is at best s***. I'm starting to wonder if they're also corrupt and don't want to allow a family to build if we can be forced to run out of money and have to sell the land cheap to a big development company, but no point creating conspiracies when we have plenty of real life to worry about0 -
P.S. the lyric was Sex Pistols Pretty Vacant 😁0

Most important update first, cat seems to have jaundice so they're testing to see if it's an indication of something more serious, we'll find out results in the morning so fingers crossed it's nothing that can't be handled. But a relief they didn't discover anything obviously in need of putting him to sleep today, as they did with my much missed floofball.
Have been smashing the 'stressed to do list';
Admin
Wiping down lots of dusty surfaces from works (many more to do though!)
Walked, dropped off vinted, got a few essential bits free with my Lidl voucher
Found a book and DVDs in a pile on the street so will check if ziffit will accept or take them to charity shop
Forced myself to sit down and attend to this job.
Have I been putting off this job for weeks? Yes. Did it take me about 20 minutes to do? Yes.
Another walk and got a few Christmas bits in so feeling better about progress on that front (though still a fair few more to get, but progress is good and I have A LIST)
Went mad in Aldi and spent £1.09 on mince pies.
But got mum a book for Christmas from the charity shop that was 50p less than the same one in same condition next to it on the shelf
Will be only one portion off my five a day from being up to date this week, once I've eaten the pasta bake I've done initial prep for, using up veg thats in much need of using up
Once that's in the oven I'll enter some competitions then flake out- I mean, do some productive reading so I can get back to the potentially ziffitable pile, and maybe later some productive chocolate eating and productive wine drinking, to clear space, productively 😁
Up early tomorrow for tradesperson to arrive, hear about vets, focus on f&v intake and catching up more with my walking. Long, long to-do list tomorrow of various things. Let's all end of week/start of December smash it x

I do wonder about planning permissions and how it all works behind the scenes. In my previous house I had to jump through every possible hoop when I wanted to get my sash windows replaced because they were draughty, rattly and rotten. In fact I couldn't replace them and had to have them restored because I lived in a conservation area. Fair enough, I preferred to refurb the original windows. I recently saw that my former neighbour's house had been sold. It was on a huge plot with a beautiful garden - drove past today and the house is being demolished and I expect 2 houses will be built there - in the same conservation area?
hope you are enjoying a productive evening keeping wine and chocolate stocks from accumulating.

Thanks @beanielou, latest is that Mr PIP has to take cat for a scan tomorrow morning but cat might have to stay in for a half day if he doesn't like the anaesthetic. Don't know if the scan has been arranged because of blood test results, no idea how quickly they get them back, or if it's something they would've done anyway and a slot has become available. Very worrying but I'm trying not to let past upset (and general traumatised state of mind about recent life) colour my thinking. Easier said than done! Cat really does seem fine in himself though, is able to leap and enjoys purry lap snuggles, and no toilet issues, so hopefully he'll just be a bloody nuisance expense, and we'll be very glad indeed! 🤞0

Yep @Blackcats, sadly I think the days when councils (or indeed housing associations) were populated by people who wanted the best for the population and the area rather than incompetent, hypocritical narcissists/ backhander-profiting poshnobs are long gone. My impression is that any decent person making decisions in a council rapidly becomes overwhelmed by featuring in the most tedious ever Kafka story and goes on the sick never to be replaced.
You can tell I've not had favourable experiences can't you!0 -
Sending positive vibes that all goes well for your cat today 🙏I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
