  • Up again at dark o'clock which was fortunate as the plumber arrived at 730am! At least I'd managed to dress by then if not tidy the flat or myself. No-one needs an unexpected hello from a rogue dressing gown boob, especially that early on a Saturday morning.
He'd finished by 915am and the plasterer arrived just before 9am. All a bit of a shock to the system for this night owl but glad it's getting done

Got all my admin dealt with super early so trotted off to Aldo to take advantage of a shopmium deal of two bottles of wine for the price of one at £4.99. Stock was in and I checked the receipt had printed clearly, so that was submitted and has already been approved, very impressed

Once plasterer had finished I had a bit of a tidy and off we went to Mr PIPs- weekend so no peak fares to worry about. (Mum has said this is fine btw, I'm not cruelly abandoning her to the big works)

Went to coop en route and they had member price of 85p for a pint of milk so stuck my 20p off voucher on that and got it for 65p. They also had a bar of galaxy for £1.25 so was able to use my 50p off voucher satisfactorily

Found 5p then found another 5p (yes I checked if there was a hole in my pocket before getting excited 😁)

Went to Sainsers for mozzarella as was £1.30 in coop. Not only was it cheaper but Mr PIP checked the reduced section and there was one for 54p!

Referral coded Mr PIP for shopmium and he's got a free bag of chocolate buttons to claim as a referred friend and I get £3 when he does his first transaction. Will be useful if he can also get the two for a fiver wine deal

Looked in Costa as they had a 'treat drop' of 40% off food but we could make equivalents or even buy from Greggs or a nice supermarket range for less, so saved money by not being tempted into a Not-a-Deal

Unfortunately all this money saving was somewhat reduced by having to spend £3.50 on some coldsore cream but at least I didn't get the big brand that was £6. And I made sure to get my receipt so hopefully Sainsers will give me the survey prize of nectar points to make up for it

Going to cook a nutritious pasta bake then get an earlyish night. Hopefully upstairs will allow me the good night's sleep I'm very much looking forward to 🤞

  • I know @beanielou! This is the same bloke who worked till what ended up being 930pm the other evening after a full day with another job to go to. I gave him a telling-off (not that I'm an interfering busybody 😂) and he said he had to pay £3500 PER MONTH for his daughter's education. I told him that was admirable but I'm sure his teenage daughter would rather have him alive than driving exhausted without having had proper food every night. He agreed but 🤷‍♀️
Made sure to give him a friendly nag today too. Okay, I am such an interfering busybody. But no-one needs three and a half grands education every month more than they need their dad. And his hours are not legal, and for good blimmin reason

Just been catching up on the last few weeks of your diary, and you really have such a creative way with words! I'm sorry that you're in pain and suffering with the sleep deprivation from the noisy granny and the disruption with the works going on at your mum's.

I can understand what may have initially drove your overworked plumber to think that he needed to fork out as much as possible for his daughter's education, as I paid quite a bit for my son's education for the end of Year 10 and Year 11. But what I spent in total is just over what he's spending in a month! He's probably trapped himself into a situation that he's just trying to see through. And I don't think it sounds like he thought you were an interfering busybody, he probably appreciated that you cared enough to advise him to slow down.

Wow to the education costs the plumber is paying!    Fair play to them for wanting the best for their child but what a price - literal and other ways - that he is paying.
hope upstairs granny has had a quiet weekend sitting still in her armchair watching anything but Strictly which might inspire her dancing feet
  • Hi @Keedie, lovely to see you on my diary, do pop in anytime and thanks for your kind words

@Blackcats she can salsa all she bloody likes during daylight hours! The annoying thing (apart from feeling really sh**** having issue with an elderly lady) is that from our brief interactions I rather like and admire her. I do hope this isn't going to turn into a heartwarming Christmas tale, I am really not a heartwarming Christmas tale sort of person 😁
  • Got the early night but woken up by upstairs lady at 11pm, 2am, and 630am so not terribly well rested. Mr PIP went up to have a polite word but she's still denying it could possibly be her, apparently we're 'mad'

But we had a decent Sunday, bit of cleaning, bit of admin, entered some competitions- today I'm mostly looking forward to winning a thousand pounds but a socks advent calendar would also be fab

We had a good walk to Mr PIP's nearest (not very near) Aldo to take advantage of the shopmium two wines for a fiver since I referred him, and the last box of cat food at non reduced sachet size was damaged so I asked if we could get any discount for it, not expecting anything, and got 30% off!
Granted it's only 90p but with the two 5p's I found yesterday that's a whole pound, and we only need ten of those for a tenner, and we only need ten tenners for a hundred and we only need... 😂😭😂

Got a healthy and tasty and mse lentil cottage pie in the oven, feeling very Sunday-y. Hope you've all had lovely weekends and get a good night's sleep

The wifie upstairs would drive me nuts.
I am very grumpy when I don’t get enough sleep 😴

  • Thanks for the suggestion @lucielle, I was wondering similar myself, but she would still think it was coming from elsewhere as she refuses to believe that steps that don't sound noisy in her flat could possibly sound louder in another flat

On another note, I have just caught the cat who can't have dried food getting a doorstep dinner off yet another neighbour by doing his pitiful meow.

I'm certainly getting to know the neighbours, even if they do all think I'm a t***!
