well done on the PB! Made me check mine £25 (not bad)

Glad you had a great xmas, I also live in a high rise (not top floor) so fireworks displays are lovely to see from all 3 corners

Hope 2025 moves your build along. Remind me - do you own the land but are waiting for council permission? Then need to build? I know it involves you having the patience of a saint with the council

I expect he's saving up for a bigger win for you @foxgloves and @Sun_Addict

Thanks @redofromstart @amber03 @beanielou, nice to have a bit of good luck

Well done @dawnybabes, what's your £50 going on?

Well done @LadyWithAPlan, yep we own the plot, have planning permission, now doing (and paying for) pre-build works but will need to wait for council to approve and sign off on consents before we can build, that is unlikely to happen in the time we need it to to be able to afford to build, so am trying to make my peace with the fact that we won't have the nicer life we dreamt of and came so close to having. Very sad but so it goes.

Happy Saturday all, hope it's not too chilly where you are

Remainder of Christmas pot after mum birthday gift went to current account as less in there than I'm comfortable with, some to mothers day pot, change to flat pot

the filo pastry parcels sound yum.

On the build  - are you thinking you wont get the council sign offs before your planning expires? I guess you'd have to start again but never say never when one focuses its amazing what can happen

Oh well done @Pollie, I am very impressed. Do chip in on my diary more often, I like you 😁

@LadyWithAPlan alas if only it were that 'simple! To build we'd need to get a build mortgage and use all our (not substantial) savings, and considering it'll take 1-2 years to build, if it doesn't start early this spring then we just plain can't afford to do it without being homeless when this rental agreement runs out- if it was a known quantity of being 'between homes' that would be awful but doable, but since we're dealing with a council who have done everything they can to ensure we can't progress for the last nearly half a decade when the  whole process should take no more than a few months, we can't afford to continue with it without the extremely real likelihood of getting to retirement age with not a penny and literally no roof over our heads.
We're thoroughly miserable that we're not going to have the nicer life we'd dreamt of that we got so close to getting, but having a cramped dank flat is better than nothing, and we won't be able to afford that if we carry on with this in a few months time so c'est la vie innit
