    Hopefully not.
No wonder you has a wee cry.
I don’t think people get it that when you are already in chronic pain how difficult it is to then add something else to the mix.

  • On the ears - do you have a hot water bottle or microwavable wheat bag type thing? When I get painful blocked ears along with tonsilitis I find that warmth really helps ease the worse of it, so that's worth a go if you haven't already. (I suspect you have already, though!)

The nurse appointment sounds like a good plan regardless - I do wonder if you need different anti-b's though as usually you can feel a difference pretty soon if they are working, can't you.

  • I'll dig a wheat bag out, thanks for the idea @EssexHebridean. Dr said no point in stronger/different antibiotics as if it were bacterial there'd be at least some improvement by now.

I'm going to boldly (and moodily) attempt a shower and hairwash. Then have a little lie down
  • Yes - that is of course the other thing, that the antibiotics aren't doing anything because there is nothing for them to attack. Gah. Viruses are a pain - you'd think they'd have the decency to know when they're beaten and just bog off, wouldn't you!

Awww, sorry you are no better, @PiP. You do sound poorly & understandably miserable. It is sounding like a virus, isn't it, if the anti-bios are not kicking in. While I do agree up to a point about 'mind over matter' being pretty much all that is left in your arsenal of lergy-vanquishing, you also need plenty of rest. There's a reason you don't feel like doing anything & that's your body needing to shake off what is clearly a very nasty virus. I am going to send positive vibes generally, & also that Postie arrives at your door in the next day or two with news of some competition success. A decent prize would bring a little cheer, I feel.

Make sure that you drink plenty  - lack of fluids make the stuff that is in your lungs thicker and harder to cough up. I'm assuming it's the same for whatever nastiness is in your ears. If you're not eating much then plain biscuits are helpful. I usually have an emergency packet of rich tea knocking around somewhere.

Thanks, I do need to drink more water but am either too tired to get up and get more or am too afeared of waking up needing a pee and starting the coughing and not being able to get to sleep cycle again. You just can't win with these things can you
  • Oh I also have a lovely pimply itchy rash across my chest from boobs + sweat + lying down all day every day. Just in case I was running out of things to make me feel incredibly grim
