New restrictions at a Bury retail park - no parking at all after certain times now.(presumably the sign was damaged in the corner in transit or something).

Get your telescopes out.

Apparently loads of people are now receiving PCNs and are wisely contacting the landowner who is helpful, but irritated. He's cancelling all he can.

Did Group Nexus install temporary signage advising of the change in T&Cs for 4 months? Of course not.

Entrance signage still says simply "3 hours maximum parking".

Sign is clearly a breach of the CRA.

Savills are the MA, and they’ve almost always been extremely helpful in getting PCNs cancelled on behalf of customers using car parks they are overseeing. The only question I have in the back of my mind is, if they try to cancel almost every PCN they receive complaints about, why do they even bother having this repulsive private parking scamdustry on their properties?

UKPC have signs at a service area behind some shops in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Typical of their recent signage including the white-on-orange that is unreadable in most lighting conditions and heights. The entrance sign requires the driver to turn their head 90 degrees and clamping is also threatened by a separate sign..

I have uploaded a sign below which is one of about 3 similar ones in a very large retail park near me. The DP sign is very small say under a foot square and quite high up on the post under Savills sign. I should say there is no parking management at the car park and as far as I recall there never has been and it is free with no restrictions as to time or usage. I am guessing that CP-Plus are trying to 'sell' some sort of car parking management scheme to the owners. There are about 12 shops including fast food outlets on the site and the largest store has its own cafe. It is outside of town with other outlets and small industrial premises in surrounding area.

I first noticed the ANPR cameras in August 2024, accompanied by even smaller DPA signs, and I asked the council why they had been permitted with no planning permission. I did not chase this up until March 2025 as I was moving house. I emailed the council about their lack of a reply and they responded the following day to say they had contacted the landowners the year before and retrospective planning permission had been requested in December 2024 and awarded on 4 March 2025.

I intend to object to the processing of my personal data (VRM) unless it is totally anonymised for traffic statistics or some such purpose. I was initially going to contact CP-Plus but wondered whether to also include Savills or whether to wait to see what CP-Plus say before including them. Any thoughts would be welcome.

IMHO, any opportunity to complain and otherwise disrupt the cosy agreements retail parks keep walking into is a good thing, even if they have to merely reply and say they aren't the data controller.

Last month, a relative of mine stopped over at a Hotel in the Stratford on Avon area and this was the supposed entrance sign by our old adversaries, Civil Enforcement Ltd:

Well that's a clear daylight image from GSV from 2024.

In fact, it was pitch black dark - with lots more foliage than that GSV image because that bush has overgrown - and there's no light above that sign and no t&cs signs at all outside the front of the building.

Yet there are two unmarked parking spaces there out the front for patrons (to the right of that bollard post) with one of those two ANPR cameras trained on that section.

No t&cs whatsoever if you drop off or park, which guests can, at the front.

Out the back, there are more spaces and my relative went hunting for the t&cs:

And the below image shows the VRM screen sitting quietly on the desk:

To the right is the entrance door.

So people walking in and not needing to approach the desk, have that screen completely hidden, literally behind the open door and then as they walk through it's behind them.

And there's no warning banner nor sign, no t&cs nor any material information whatsoever there to draw people's eyes to it, despite that screen being a 'consumer notice' in itself.

The screen when used, also doesn't warn of a PCN if you type your VRM wrong.

Of course my relative did it right - we are pedantic about signs in private car parks - and they took a photo to prove the VRM submission, but look how easily a person using a hotel bar or attending an event would miss it completely, because they wouldn't have cause to approach the desk.

As for anyone dropping off of picking up a passenger outside, no chance of avoiding a postal PCN, but also no chance they could be bound by any jumped up contract, because there isn't one out front and the driver, if waiting, wouldn't see any signs or go inside.

Entrapment.

We need more images of hidden VRM screens on this thread please as I'm showing it to the CMA.

One from my recent trip north of the border.

It appears you have to pay for time between entry and leaving, so not parking. If you decide to enter, then read the sign, or try and find a space and its full, or have a reason to leave immediately so never park - kerching for not paying 50p.

I also wonder if the 7m+ motorhome I saw parked over two spaces paid for two or received a PCN for not being fully within a bay.
