Nothing wrong with keeping your options open if that feels better for you at the moment2

If you feel like that, maybe you should sever the link. However, I believe schools are often short of invigilators so if you change your mind in a few months I expect you could get back on the list.
Good luck whatever you decide.3 -
Having just semi retired from NHS really useful to follow how you divide up your 'pots' and budget, something I need to look at now. Have reduced my hours to 16 which is lovely and have started my 60 after 60 list so I don't just drift over the next few years. I have the 7 year gap now until I get my state pension but need a way to shorten that as I don't think i will be able to manage the 12.5 hour shifts for all those 7 years!! I also do invigilating at the local high school, hadn't really quantified that as an income before as only fitted in odd sessions between working my main job, something for me to look at. Much easier travel wise as I can walk to the school whereas I have an 80 mile round trip to the hospital. Need to also have a look at the thread how much do I need to live on. Look forward to getting ideas from your thread.3

tinsy! That’s quite a commute for 16 hours a week. Could you manage on NHS pension and invigilation? Is mortgage paid off?The 60 after 60 sounds interesting. At the moment I am taking it easy but hopefully by October will get going again!2

I decided yesterday to ask for my casual examination invigilator contract to be discontinued.
However, I will continue to keep my DBS current and have read, signed and returned all the Child Protection paperwork and other legal documents that need to be annually reviewed and checked. I have done this to keep options open in case other casual opportunities I may be interested in arise.5 -
I find it helps to imagine 'extra' money in terms of bottles of champagne, turning up at my door at Christmas as a thank-you. £1500, after tax, gets you 26 bottles of Veuve Cliquot, and maybe a few crisps as well
