Hope all goes well with the surgery @[Deleted User]
I'm a paper and pen gal and love lists! I have lists for absolutely everything and budgets are also done on paper but I'm now pondering spreadsheets 😁
I'm loving everyone's ideas and tips on finances and I'm getting more excited about retirement at the end of the year.2 -

I returned home late afternoon yesterday after my day surgery. I would have been home a lot sooner but my sister was unable to change the ferry booking. Procedure wasn't too bad and the staff were excellent from start to finish. Nothing like a general anaesthetic for a good sleep lol!
I am feeling more uncomfortable today as have a flexible stent stent inserted to help the healing process but it is making its presence known! Hopefully that will be removed within two weeks and I can fully recover.
I am drinking lots of water, as I usually do, but for the next few days have to double my intaketo about 4 to 5 litres a day.
I will be taking it easy for a few days.4 -
This is the first time in over 4 decades that I have not been actively involved in the new school year. It feels a bit strange.
Although, after this surgery, I am pleased I do not have to be worried about returning to work and setting cover for colleagues and can take it easy legitimately for a few days.2 -

That must feel strange after all those years to not be involved in the start of the academic year, but you are right, you need to take your time now to focus on your recovery.

I have received a date for the stent removal towards the end of September, which is a little later than expected. Things have settled down and there is less discomfort when doing some day to day chores. I have to be careful when lifting and stretching so only doing minimal in the garden at moment. Hopefully by first week in October complete normality will return.
As posted on another thread I have given up surveys with Valued Opinions after encountering their excessive verification procedures to claim a £10 voucher. After mobile phone verification which was successful they wanted a photo of my driving licence and a selfie! I emailed them to ask why they needed so much ID but they wouldn’t budge. I have closed the account and written off the £18.36 I had earned. Not a disaster but annoying.
I will be pleased when it cools down a bit in the next few days. Looks like we might have shower this morning which will be great for the garden as I cannot water easily at the moment.
I might venture out tomorrow. Feel a bit sluggish at the moment as can’t really do all my usual daily exercises. My personality hates any changes to daily routine and not being in control lol! However, will just have to see things through.Financially things are fine. Occupational pension is due on Thursday. Had notice that my monthly income choice annuity will be £2 a month less from October so down to £43. Nothing to worry about and a cut that is easily absorbed.
I did send off, nearly a month ago, q a direct debit application to pay remaining voluntary NI contributions between July and next April. Still haven’t heard anything back or seen nothing set up with my bank. I will give it another week or so and then follow up.
Nothing much planned for next few weeks. I must be careful not to fall into a bit of a rut. Too much laying about! Travel to other places when on an island is not always easy and can prove expensive. Ferry fares can be at least £60 day return for the car off peak and well over a £100 £150 if you stay somewhere overnight or longer. My recent hospital appointments and day surgery actually cost me nearly £300 for travel and accommodation.
Anyway enough whinging. Bed change today and moving about more!
Best wishes to all.4
