It is obvious MSE towers has relied on some intern developer saying 'I can make it look different' rather than employing a User Experience professional.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0

Sorry Laura, I much preferred the old format of thread lists, 3 times as many threads per screen, and easier to see the subject of the old thread without the clutter underneath

I thought my browser had broken. Sorry but the new layout is AWFUL...If they need a new layout for phone users then do that but you can detect what browser/device a user is usingso why the change for desktop PC users?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...2

I've managed to resize the window to get it to something like usable, but the recent discussions page only shows 10 items, so there's no way I'll be stepping through more than 2-3 pages of that.0

and that is that it now shows the first couple of lines of what a post entails, not just the post title.
This is better, as it allows you to get a gist of the post without having to open it.
a bit like the old hover, which didn't work on mobiles anyway.
So there you go....that's all I can think of as an "improvement"
ETA - I knew it was too good to be true. This feature only happens in "Recent Discussions" NOT within a board.
Someone has actually been paid for this abomination?
I would really like to know from MSE how long this new 'improved' layout was tested for and who tested it?0 -
An authentic mess. I hope you didn't pay anyone to do this1

The last update was a backward step in usability from the previous one and this one seems to have taken it a step further in the wrong direction. When viewing a thread, the need to display the content itself almost seems like a hindrance; I really doubt that this will encourage participation and contributions (apart from to this thread!).My suggestion is that there needs to be a bit of a re-think about the purpose of the forum, as users and usability don't seem to be taken into consideration. The fundamental requirements should be:
- Easy and ready access to content.
- Easy to read content.
- Easy to contribute and respond to content.
They should override other UI considerations.1 -
Browsing on an iPad in portrait mode. Not keen. Lines of text seem too long to skim read. Also not keen on the new threads view, again too much info to scan through to find stuff that’s interesting.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)0

can you revert back to old format this is rubbish1

Just curious why this upgrade seems to think it's necessary to show how many 'thanks' a thread has...
Is this seen as one of the most important features?3
