Fingers crossed for you
Have spent most of the day either on the phone or waiting for it to ring but have finally sold my Dad's flat!:j :j :j
DD has been sent a formal job offer for the 7th of January in Oxford so in three weeks I will only have two daughters at home instead of four!
Making mulled wine later to celebrate the winter solstice and will make mash, chicken kievs cabbage and leeks and cheese sauce later but as all DDs are coming home at different times it will be a bit confusing."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all. Finally got everything wrapped up. Sorted out a display of christmassy candles (we don't have a fireplace so a bit of a candle glow is nice)..........groceries been delivered and put away so hopefully I'll have three days of 'wind down' before Christmas day. Not that we're having houseful but we do have a 17 year old foster boy with us and it'll be his last christmas with us so we want the day to be right for him.
He's got a ps2..........chances are we shan't see much of him once thats opened.................lol
To all those not well, best wishes and get better soon.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hey,they're fab! Not only croissants that you're good at then :rotfl: Was going to post a pic of mine, but think they'll be outshoneI need 100 pies as they're hugely popular here. DD has eaten 6 today   75 will go into the freezer and can then we warmed up in the range in 5 mins.
And btw, I don't usually look at gormless as Shez's pics would suggest - I'd just had a long and stressful journey
Inspired by thriftlady, I've also made some Florentines today. I'd been led to believe that they're really tricky, but seemed quite straightforward to me.
Pen Pin - hope everything's OK at hospital.
Are you a granny again, yet, ivyleaf
Off out soon, but we'll be burning our yule log before we go (thanks for the reminder stefejb). Have a good evening, everyone.

Tried all over to find OH a card with fiance on - can't find one anywhere, and his presents are looking a bit lean so I shall have to go shopping tomorrow morning after all!!! Hope everyone is ok, and get well soon to those who are unwell.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi again
Managed to get all my jobs done today and I'm not going to the shops again. Fridge is bursting and can't fit anything else in. Good job my utility room is freezing and acts as a pantry at this time of year.
Forgot I'm going out for my Christmas do from work tonight. Was looking forward to a large Baileys and an early night. Don't know whether to drive or not, have to get up really early to write essay, will decide in a minute.
SHEZ well done with those mince pies.
Have a good night :A xxxx0 -

Not yet - DD says the contractions are still there but quite weak. I read a post on the MSE Pregnancy thread about massaging the uterine reflexology point on the inside of the ankle, so her DH will try doing that for her once DGS is in bed. She's booked for induction on Monday so hopefully baby will get around to arriving before then
We've got freezing fog here tonight so I don't think any of us will mind if baby stays in there a bit longer!0 -
Evening all
just in from work and I can see that some of you have been very busy what with babies and mince pies and all. I have come home from work laden with pressies - barbadian coconut bread from a colleague, loads of bits for my dd's from best friend and bizarrely a pair of glossy, diamond patterned tights from one of the lady judges. The last is a bit of a mystery as I have always endeavoured to keep my legs a secret from the outside world but they'll be lovely under my leggings and cycling trousies. I have handed the Head Honch Badge to my colleague and apart from a few loose ends that need tidying up next week I am no longer the boss. I loved the problem solving but hated the paperwork, statistics and domestics
It is a daddy weekend so I'm having meat lovely meat for tea in the form of 2 lamb chops, some organic sausages and mash and cauli - yum
any news from Penpin - I have a horrid feeling that no news is not good newsI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

Sorry. Internet still down at work so still have no idea what you are all up to. It has been down since Wednesday which I really think is so inconsiderate. I know I can't post from work but at least on normal days I can see what is happening!
Well. Today is quite momentous in more than one way. Three years today I should be able to retire (just before my 60th birthday on ?day (worst day of the year for a birthday!!!!!!!!), building up to my 57th on Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!! No more work for 2 weeks which is momentous. Looking forward to DS and partner coming over from Ireland tomorrow for just a onenighter, and the icing on the cake will be the DGSs here for Christmas Day. Santa has been e-mailed and pressies will be here too! Plus Santa on a promise for his whisky and I think the reindeers will get a carrot or two plus a bucket of water left out at Granny and Grandad Broons!
More or less done the food shopping. We have a shopping list for tomorrow and Monday and hardly anything to get. Over to DDs on Sunday for a family get-together. At least DS will see everyone.
Water leak in street still going on! They are working on it sporadically. My neighbour is bound to complain as his top border now totally flooded! We had diggers at 7.00 pm last night. Not our fault!
Can't believe it is a year since I joined you all - best move I ever made!
Love and hugs to all.
