MSE News: Plusnet Mobile customer? You need to switch provider as it's closing down

I still haven’t heard a peep from Plusnet about them closing. I’m starting to think it’s all a hoax to get us to swap to EE.

I can see why Plusnet are staggering it tbh. It cuts the admin for both it and the provider you eventually go to. I opted for the EE deal but as on month rolling SIM only deal I can move on if I wish.
I wouldn't recommend EE tbh - the website is appalling and the links to 'FAQ' in emailed order info isn't very helpful e.g. Link 'How to keep your own number' sent me to https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/getting-started/esim/what-is-an-esim
'What is an eSIM' yeah right! Wouldn't it be more helpful to take you to a link about PAC?
When I ordered online I entered my PAC (this was Saturday) and got my new SIM on Wednesday - inserted it to mobile on Thursday and never got any msg as to when the porting would start - got ported over late on Friday.
I am in my 70's so I want to be informed please - step by step. I am quite PC/internet literate and EE website just does not cut it. Opaque does not begin to describe it.0 -
I got a reminder email today. Still no date, just says it will be shutting down "in the coming months" but it now has a link to the "exclusive" EE offers. These turn out to include a rolling 30-day contract with 5GB data (and unlimited texts, calls) for £6 a month, which is better value than I'm getting at the moment. However I don't trust them to keep to that for long. We moved away from EE to Plusnet because of EE's abysmal customer service and extortionate pricing (and because of the discount for Plusnet broadband customers), so I'm loth to move back, but it would be the easy option, at least for now, and the network coverage would be the same.
I will miss Plusnet, but on the other hand it'll be nice to be back with a provider that lets you reply to SMS shortcode numbers.

If you are on a 30 day rolling contract you can move to another supplier at any time. I have taken the EE offer - same as you have been offered. I have found that their website is abysmal and links in emails which are supposed to be helpful take you to (IMO) advice which is off the subject.
However I am on a 30 day contract so I don't care that much.......It has highlighted I wouldn't go to them for Broadband.0 -
I signed up for the 5Gb for £6 deal too. I have to say it was a pretty smooth process, put the request in on bank holiday Monday, the SIM arrived on Wednesday and got a text to say my number had been ported on Thursday morning.
I too left EE for Plusnet because of customer service issues, it'll be interesting to see if they've got their act together a bit more now. There's quite an attractive offer if you take broadband from them too - 10% off the broadband price and extra free data on your mobile - but I'll see how it goes for a while.0 -
@Dogbyte009 Did you sign up on the website or over the phone? I’ve heard some complaints about numbers not being ported on time (or at all) when people switched using the website.0

Hmmm, I just received an email (complete with broken link) from Plusnet telling me my latest bill is available to view. But I left them about 3 months ago.....Stompa0

I couldn't wait any longer, big fan of Plusnet, but needed it sorted so I used the MSE lookup tool to get a new provider...
I went with TALKMOBILE who hang off the back of Vodafone..
They gave me free calls, free texts, 30GB Data on a 30 day rolling contract for £7.95 a month... A big winner for me was the fact that they offer Wi-FiCalling as the signal where I am is not good...
Very easy to switch over via a text message, dead easy..., they were very efficient and followed up all the time until everything was working perfectly..., very pleased...1 -
Just had the email for one of my plus net sims0
