@MattMattMattUK , we are checking the meter several times a day, using the display that shows the amounts in £
Another thing thats very frustrating when talking with EDF is waiting for ages, finally getting through to someone who is obviously either in a very loud office or working from home on a mobile where you get disconnected and have to start the whole process over again!

@SPlatten You are checking the In Home Display - credit meters don't display use in £'s at all - only in units of kWh for electricity, and m3 or ft3 for gas (some smart meters do have a menu option for readings in kWh but you're probably best just to stick with the m3 reading regardless).
Have a look back at my post a few before this one and see if you can work through the steps I've suggested there please - and post the information for us to see. It sounds like you may not be able to do the first step as you haven't been checking the actual meter - the rest should be possible though.

Change the display to show how many kWh you use each day and never look at £s again. Find out how much per kWh your supplier is charging you, probably around 34p, and multiply that by kWh used. Add your daily standing charge and that is how much you are using that day.
Start taking readings from the actual meters that are fixed to the wall, not you plug in display which might not be showing the correct tariff. Keep your record for how many kWh you use each month, this is what is important.

If the poster installs Bright today will it show historical data? It may be the easiest way to get some kwh info here

Yes, it will have access to the last 13 months of data, but it might take a few days to populate into the app.

We have switched our energy provider on a regular basis and each time the new provider has offered a cheaper rate,
The fact that many energy suppliers have gone to the wall and there is an ongoing war in Ukraine resulting in an exponentional rise in energy wholesale prices appears to have gone un-noticed. The days of price comparison websites offering fixed tariffs which differ markedly from each other in price is probably many months away. Suppliers such as Ovo and Octopus are no longer having to fight for customers. New suppliers are staying away from entering the market.

We have a hand held display and it does show quite clearly usage. Please see attached two photo's I've just taken showing yesterdays total and the total today.

That is the IHD, not the Smart Meter.
For the "Today" picture 11.45kWh should be around £3.89 + the Standing charge of around 40p. For "Yesterday" the the cost should be around £4.48 inc the standing charge so the tariff information in the IDH is out of date. You need to monitor kWh and convert to £, not rely on the IHD.

@MattMattMattUK , can the information in the IHD be updated? Seems silly if the information it displays isn't accurate.

If that is your electric usage I'd be over the moon with those tariff prices. Cheap as chips.
