  • Good idea to put the NW money into your holiday groceries. I am saving my Nectar points for when we go to Yorkshire in a cottage for Christmas. Hoping we will be able to actually get a delivery as I hate going food shopping near Christmas and the local Mr S there is only a small one.
I allocated my NW £100 to paying towards the holiday accommodation.
I definitely think it's worth doing 'something' with the payment and using it for the accommodation is s good idea too. We had already paid ours as we go in a few week's time, so the food shopping will be a good use of it I think.  Like I said, it means we don't have to scrimp and can treat ourselves as we are on holiday.

Going away for Christmas sounds wonderful @Makingabobor2...ours is always so frantic trying to get around and see everyone that it doesn't feel like a rest from work. You should be able to pop the postcode of the cottage in and see which grocery stores deliver, the problem may be actually getting one close to Christmas.

  • Morning, happy Fri-yay to you all.  This week seems to have lasted a long time with being off work, I've definitely enjoyed having the downtime.

So, again it's a NSD for me, that means 5 in a row which is fab and I'm rather chuffed with myself. The weather will dictate if we go out tomorrow but I'm happy either way, we have a busy period coming up and then the holiday to the cottage so I don't mind saving the money for then.

Today's PAD was just £5 to the sabbatical fund. Not sure what I will do with this week's cash for spending which is still sitting in my purse, it may go to challenges or I may save it for the up-coming spendy period.  Will have a think, there's no rush to decide :)

That's it from me, nothing new to report. Have fun days, and great weekends ahead.

Hello everyone, how is it Monday already? This weekend has certainly gone fast and unfortunately it's been quite spendy.  I was in the gym at 5 this morning and I'm already feeling quite achey, not a great start :D

We ended up going out for food and drinks on Friday night and the shoes I wore did not make it... I broke a heel on the cobbles so I had to order replacement shoes yesterday. I also treated myself to an F1 top for when we go on holiday as it was a decent price. I'm not feeling bad about what I bought though and I know they will get plenty of use.

So, to PADding, it was just the standard £5 a day over the weekend but today I have also filled my '14' envelope so that's a nice little boost to the sealed pot.

My reglazed glasses arrived this weekend... the lenses have writing etched on them by the look of it so I will be calling the company at 10am to ask them why... it doesn't appear to be a protective film but the etching is large and in the field of vision so I have no clue what they're thinking...

That's all from me, back to the grindstone now
    Have fab days!

  • Morning! I hope you're all doing OK?

I called about my glasses and they are going to re-do them for me as the etching shouldn't be visible when wearing them and to me it looks like a smudge and they need cleaning. Glad they're sorting it for me and they have said they will fast-track it too.

It's not a NSD for me today as I am out tonight, should be it for the rest of the week now though as I have no other plans.

My PAD included the usual £5 to the sabbatical and a chunk to the holiday spending along with some bills.

That's all from me.  I hope you have a good day and enjoy the sunshine before the storms arrive this afternoon

  • Hi guys, the sun is shining this morning and the birds woke me up early, I am therefore in a good mood but have been busy doing self imposed life admin before work and forgot to come on and update.

Today will be a NSD for me, and I have no plans to go anywhere else this week so I should get 2-3 more in by the end of the weekend.  Yesterday I set out/sorted my sinking funds priorities and from now on I will be spreading my money about a bit rather then stuffing it onto the general saver. I think now that I have a grip on what's needed and when I will be more focused on using the correct categories. (Hope this makes sense, it does in my head).  I've done this as my general saver is about to be obliterated by the final big holiday payment so it seems a good a time as any to get myself sorted.

My PAD today was £5 to the sabbatical and £54 from the dice rolls, the % dice was kind this morning and landed on 20 so that wasn't too bad!

That's pretty much it from me. I've nothing more to add this morning.... better get back to work!

  • Good morning, I'm not saying it was cold this morning but when I got up to go to the loo the heating was on!

It's another NSD for me today, no plans for after work except to watch the footy on telly, maybe with a few beers.  i have a busy work day ahead with back to back meetings until 4:30pm so I will be pretty drained by the time it gets to kick off.

PAD today was £5 to the sabbatical and then £10 to the sinking funds... as I sit typing this I've just had a cancellation for an hours call this afternoon, unfortunately it overlapped with another so I'll only gain 30 minutes but I am not going to complain!

Anyway, that time off seems a distant memory now... good job I have some more time off in a few weeks!
    Catch you all later

  • Good morning and happy Friday, i hope you're all doing well? It seems like we are going to get a few days of good weather :)

Today is a NSD for me so I have sent my remaining cash to my sinking funds. £5 has been added to the sabbatical as usual too.

We don't have many plans for the weekend in terms of spending, we have an event on Sunday but we can take our own food and drink so hopefully it will be low spends there.

I had better get back to it, it'a another full day of calls for me! I remember when Fridays were a quiet 'catch up' day *rolls eyes*

    Have a great weekend

  • Happy Monday! The beautiful weather is making me happy today :)

I had a no spend weekend! Can you believe it? We were at an open air concert and it was lovely to take camping chairs and a picnic with wine.  It's also a NSD for me today as I am not out until tomorrow night.

Today's PAD included £5 to the sabbatical as usual and £25 to the envelope challenge.

Not much else going on for me, I have made myself a travel savings binder, influenced by Iris budgets and I'm hoping this will mean I can stay focussed on what else needs saving for the big holiday (and mini-breaks after) - if nothing else, I do feel it's beautiful!

    That's all folks!
