  • Good morning folks and happy Friday! It's not actually raining here today but it has turned very cold, probably because of the clear skies.  I still have the window open this morning to air the office and I am sat listening to a woodpecker at the bottom of the garden. I can't see it but the pecking is distinctive. It warms my heart, love the birds :) He's actually been on my bird feeder before, we managed to get a photo of him.

Anyway, enough of the pleasantries... let's get down to the finance update. Nothing happening really! Sent £5 to the sabbatical, should be able to send another £40 extra on Monday before ay day so that should take me to £700. Then I paid house bill this morning too, to do with the leasehold.

It's another NSD for me today, I have totally lost count but must be nearing my target. I have no plans to spend this weekend either, if I do spend they will be low spends regardless. Hubby has made plans to see one of his friends on Sunday and that suits me, I will just make a roast dinner for when he gets home.  I am definitely looking forward to a 'no real plans' weekend. Might even get to do a bit of video gaming which is a rarity these days.

That's all from me... Oh I forgot to mention, I was chatting to a friend the other day about passports and she mentioned she needed to get a new one as when she goes on holiday it will be more than 10 years since it was issued.  I checked mine and guess what? Because I updated my name when I till had time left on my passport, mine can't be used for our September holiday! I therefore need to shell out for a new passport. Can't tell you how pleased I am that we had that conversation... I only really check the expiry date!

In other news I must get checking the comparison sites for pet insurance this weekend. I just loathe it because it feels such a chore, but after catching up on the latest season of Martin's show I really should make the time.

That really is it from me this morning :D Have lovely Fridays!

  • Good morning and happy Monday everyone! I hope you had great weekends :)

As promised, mine was a no spend pottering weekend and whilst I am still coughing and wheezing I do feel better mentally for having a lovely 'no plans' weekend.

So, today is pay-day eve and I have moved and extra £40 to the sabbatical and as it's Monday I have also filled the No 8 envelope for the envelope challenge. It's not going to be a NSD as I have an appointment at lunchtime so will need to pay for parking, should only be a few pounds though and I will be using cash for that.

Here's my worry this morning... my pay slip isn't showing on the system at work. It's my pre-breakfast task every pay day eve and it's usually there without fail. BUT NOT TODAY? I hope there's not a problem and that I will be paid, otherwise I'll need to shuffle money around first thing tomorrow. I will keep checking it and also ask my colleagues later to see if they have theirs yet.

There's nothing else I have to add today in all honesty. The busy finance day will be tomorrow when I am moving money around and also paying some more towards holidays. We have booked a UK break for June with family so that needs to be paid and budgeted for too, plus we have 2 weekends away before then and next month is my birthday month so there will be plans...

That's it from me. Have lovely days

I didn't realise passports can't be used if they're over 10 years old. So I don't get why they add time to your new passport then. Am I missing something?? But yes, thankfully you had that conversation and you have more than enough time to get a renewal. Imagine if you'd spoken about this in August!?

Hopefully the lack of payslip is just a system glitch for the payslips, but everything is a-okay pay wise. x

the problem is for anyone who had their passport issued with a few extra months added before Brexit. You now have to have a new one 10 years from the issue date.  Not sure what will happen in future about adding extra months. I only just renewed mine last year, so got a while to go yet....lol

It's from when I changed it to my married name so the expiry was extended to give me the full 10 years from my old one expiring. But @Makingabobor2 is right... now we have 'Brexited' we have to use it 10 years from issue.

  • Good morning and happy pay day to me.  No sooner does it hit the bank then it starts being syphoned off to all kinds of places.  Including £600 holiday payment for this month... I had intended to bolster savings but that plan went out the window.  My total PAD today is over £950!

It's not even a NSD as I am out tonight...but tomorrow should be, and Friday.

Busy day ahead for me, lots of meetings at work and I have a late call too so quick turnaround for going out. I also need to balance the spreadsheet with all the money being moved and payments made today... but first - another brew!

Love your commitment to the PAD! Great work
  • Love your commitment to the PAD! Great work
I will keep doing it as long as I can as I am currently not missing it going out daily. Even if it gets tight I will probably just reduce it to £1 or £2 a day lol.

So, today is a busy work day with calls from an early start, I have a little break now so will just pop and get some breakfast and juice before my next call.

Made my PAD today which included my Wednesday dice rolls... £41 in dice rolls added to savings this morning! Last night's night out wasn't too spendy, £15 in all so that's OK. The next month will be quite spendy as March is my birthday month so I will have a lot of catch ups planned.  Today will be a NSD for me, Wednesdays are generally really busy work days and then we don't go out in the evening.

I've sorted out my budget spreadsheet and my pots. I have set myself a target of 17 NSD's for March. Which is optimistic given the above paragraph :D

    I hope everyone is OK?
