  • Hello. Can you explain the sealed pot to me please? Is it actually a vessel containing cash, because if it is it doesn't seem the most MSE way to me of saving money as you are forfeiting the interest that could be earned. Of course I could just being missing something obvious!

    Of course, although the best explanation is given on the first page of the challenge here;

    I keep mine in an interest generating savings account, my coins are saved until I have the correct amount to be banked in each denomination and then I bank it and move it to my ‘virtual’ sealed pot account. People do use actual sealed jars, it’s down to individual preference, and of course the amount each person is able to save.

    Yes it is basically a cash tin that you cant access without a can opener. A few of my friends who work in pubs use them to save their tips when they are saving spending money for their holidays. An example of one is here:

  • Hi all, late again but I had calls from early this morning. Pleased to report that the pupster is back to his usual self so that's a relief!

    I have declared my sealed pot total a day early, the panic has set in for tomorrow's hospital appointment and I feel I am likely to forget to declare so this morning I have sorted the accounts and topped my EF to £1k.  Sabbatical will be next, but that is definitely a marathon at 10x the EF goal.  I have £4.17 in un-bagged change to carry forward to 2024 sealed pot challenge.

    Today will still be a NSD, accounts will remain as they are until Friday when I get paid. I have some workings out to do for Christmas and holiday budget over the next few days anyway so I should have a plan by the weekend.

    That's all from me today. I will be at the hospital from early tomorrow so I may miss a day, if not it will be late. Apologies in advance :D
    Catch you all later
