At the moment it's just a future plan, we had originally intended buying abroad but due to Brexit it's a bit more faffy now so we decided to look within the UK. It's not the right time at the moment with the interest rates and such but that gives us time to start researching and saving a deposit.Makingabobor2 said:Oh wow, what a lovely place to buy a retirement place. Good luck with it all.
Today will be a NSD for me, housework to do and I'll be cooking a roast dinner later. Heading to the gym this afternoon too. I've sent £3 to the EF as my PAD, nothing else going on finance wise.
Hope you all have a restful Sunday

Yes, its nice to have future plans. We have talked a lot about eventually retiring to the coast in Northumberland, but I don't know if it will happen. Sometimes I think its a great idea, then I get these practical ideas like....what would happen if we needed help with care etc and we'd be miles away from family. So then I tell myself its fine as we would always stay healthy and active as we get older. Then I think it would involve changing Drs, Dentists etc and that is so hard these days as ours are lovely and it's so easy to get to see someone where we are, and you hear such horror stories in some parts of the country. DH says I'm just being silly and putting obstacles in the way....lol. Who knows, we'll see.LittleMissDetermined said:

I think you have to weigh up the pros and cons @Makingabobor2 and do what feels right. When we moved last, I was dreading moving doctors but to be fair they’re much better than we had before! If you’re moving to a rural location, odds are the doctors will be less busy. We don’t have kids, so our later life care will be each other and what we end up paying for 😂
I am pretty much sold on the plan, we just need to work out the details and whether it’s possible. And then speak to a financial advisor, we are planning on air BnB-ing it so may need to set it up as a small business. Something I’ve never done before.Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3677/£60002 -

What a lovely plan for the future 😊 A friend of mine thoroughly researched areas on the east coast bearing in mind doctors/hospital facilities etc as they were getting older. She eventually settled on Filey and has been retired there a few years now, she loves it. I would love to live near the coast.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

I think that's it isn't is SA? Doing lots of research first. We are so lucky here, great Dr & dentist, hospitals IMO are great here, always had great service & care and never had massive waiting times. Where as my sister on the south coast, has to wait about 3 weeks to even see a GP and was just offered somewhere the other side of London for an MRI and has to travel 30 miles for her nearest place she can get an ultrasound scan.....not what you want as you get older.Sun_Addict said:What a lovely plan for the future 😊 A friend of mine thoroughly researched areas on the east coast bearing in mind doctors/hospital facilities etc as they were getting older. Good morning and happy Monday to all... Not much going on today, no plans except going to the gym this evening.
It will be a NSD for me, I've sent £3 to the EF this morning. I've also decided to put the larger sums from my Monzo pots into the larger interest account (EF) to make the most of this. I am still tracking it all separately so I know what belongs where but it seems silly to have it sat earning a lower interest when it's all in the same bank.
That's all from me. Catch you all later

I managed to do 9 surveys today… the most I’ve done in a day I think! I still have £13+ pending approval too.Makingabobor2 said:Well done, I've only had a 15p one today....lol Everything else has been only 1 place left and couldn't get it.
