It’s the same here with material things v experiences LMD. I watched the cricket at Lord’s yesterday and it was absolutely priceless. The rain down here has been most welcome today as far as I’m concerned. Really freshened everything up  :)

  • Glad you enjoyed the cricket AntoMac, it's one that I can't really get my head around to be honest so I don't follow it.

I had a spendy and busy weekend so I didn't spend much time online, therefore not updated my diary. I did still make my £3 PADs to the EF and I added cash to the sealed pot yesterday from my purse.  I am off out to meet friends for lunch today too so it won't be a NSD today either. That's just how it goes :)

I've not been very good at keeping my signature updated, so please take my totals with a pinch of salt :D  I will do it now though whilst I remember.

    Have a lovely Monday all

  • Good morning everyone. Yesterday turned out to be a no spend day after all as our plans were cancelled. We will try and catch up later in the week if time allows.

Today is another no spend day as I don’t have plans to go anywhere and work is quite busy.  I have managed a cash out from prolific this morning so as well as £3 to the emergency fund I have sent £5.80 over to the sealed pot.

It’s a lovely sunny morning here, so I have taken advantage and got some laundry through which will dry on the line. I may even get some bedding through later.

I hope you all have a wonderful days ahead

  • Hi all and happy Wednesday, I have been up since silly-o'clock this morning as I am under the weather and without going into much detail I won't be partaking in breakfast this morning.  :(

Exciting day though, I did treat myself to a material item from my 'debt free wish list' at the weekend and it arrives today. It has a tree for a logo (if you know, you know) and I have been deliberating for weeks since I cleared the card so it's not an impulse buy. It will be delivered between 9-10 this morning :)

It will be another NSD for me today and likely to be for the rest of the week now so that makes up for the spendy weekend.  My PAD included £3 to the EF.

Oh how exciting - a new tree purchase. ❤️ Hope you’re pleased with it. I am very tempted to one I wanted full price that is now in the sale but am being restrained.
Well deserved after all your hard work to bust the debt. Enjoy it 😀

It wasn't a 'big' purchase, it's stationery :D but I absolutely love it and it will get plenty of use! I don't think I will be buying the branded refill pages though as they're fairly pricey for a notebook but I will find a generic refill.  This will be used daily for work so I know I will get my money's worth.

Today is another NSD for me, and a long day at work, I have already had 2 work calls and I have another at 9:30.  I sent £3 to the EF today and I have also decided to move £1k of the virtual sealed pot money to that account (to be viewed as separate amounts) as the interest rate is much higher.

That's all I have to update on today, hope you all have nice days

  • Happy Friday everyone, hope you’re all doing ok?

Not much to update on, it’s quiet here at Determined Towers and it’ll be another NSD for me today. £3 sent to the EF, but when I walk the dog in a bit I will get some cash out for the cash envelope challenge.

    Have lovely days ahead!

  • Good morning all and happy Monday.  I am off work today and tomorrow so nothing pressing and a relaxing day ahead for me, I am out with my sister tonight so it's not a NSD for me.

I wasn't posting on my diary over the weekend but I did keep up with PADding and both Saturday and Sunday were NSDs for me. I moved the £1k into the EF account to get better interest, and now I am regretting the physical cash envelope challenge as I think that would also make a fair bit of interest... I may amend it next year so I can pop it in a Monzo pot instead, I suppose it depends how exciting it will be to open them all and count up at the end.

I don't have many plans for this week, fitting 5 days work into 3 will obviously mean busy days at work but other than that perhaps a few gym sessions and a swim... Hubby and I have planned to go out on Saturday afternoon for a few drinks and a bite to eat. We are both trying to save money for the holidays at the moment.

That's all from me, hope you all have lovely days ahead

I think having savings in a pot with interest is a better idea than cash envelopes. I don't do the cash challenge, as TBH, I hardly ever have cash. If I do draw it out, its for a specific purpose. Don't know much about Monzo?  Are they good for savings?

To be honest as I’m the owner of the challenge it would be quite unfair to just move mine, I may make a suggestion on the thread and see what the others think.

Monzo is good because you can have multiple pots and the interest rates aren’t bad at all, especially if you have money to lock in for a fixed period
