I thought I would watch the procession to the Abbey today and then get on with things, No. Got totally hooked and watched the whole thing, Such wonderful music and spectacle. But it's totally scuppered my plans (not to mention my diet with those cupcakes!)
So (limited wins)- NSD No 4
- Homemade fishcakes which were for tonight have been made and are in the fridge for tomorrow
- Pasta and sauce for tonight (Benefit of keeping a good store cupboard)
- Cupcakes (I know it's naughty!)
- Half way through the new book. It is so good.
- Texts from the lovely cousin
- My totally mad, funny, kind neighbour.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
@Toni'sfriend same, I am quite a vocal non royalist, but I totally got hooked, must admit though that I placed my laptop on the toilet seat and watched the spectacle while bleaching the bathroom.
Later I had a walk around the plant nursery and bought a climbing hydrangea and a Cotinus for my very boring garden. Hoping they won't get eaten or die over the summer.
Not much else will happen today, the rain is drenching and I'll just have a bit more coffee. Happy bank holiday weekend all.

I've recorded it, but not watched any of it yet. My cousin's son is in one of the processions, so will have to keep an eye out for him! Something he'll always remember.
Was shattered when the alarm went off today, after my late mum's taxi last night. Picked mum up in town & we went shopping. Looked in a CS too & got a couple of things, mostly for DH, but he liked what I'd bought. Picked DS3's GF up on my way home. Put the shopping away, then went to bed for a couple of hours. Went for s walk with DH after tea, then hooked more of my rug & watched a film about Judy Blume. I read so many of her books in my teenage years
Grateful for my new bank account card working (looking forward to receiving the money for changing it too!😉), time with mum, getting my steps in on a very windy walk, being a fifth of the way through my rugUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Forgot to post yesterday
Staying on NSD 3Grocery delivery day today.DS started being sick early this morning and didn’t make it to his football training or to watch his football team. My imagined morning/afternoon of tea in bed, reading my book and relaxing was replaced with a poorly DS and lots of cleaning. Thankfully whatever he had had moved on by evening and he was back to his normal self.We spent the majority of the day on the couch watching the animated version of Mr Bean and other cartoons. I did put on and hang a washing, and empty and load the dishwasher. And I knocked back the pizza dough OH had put on before going to the football with his Mum. But overall it was a slow day. When OH got home we watched highlights of the Coronation. Not royalists at all but it was a historical moment that we wanted to show / talk to DS about.Grateful for DS feeling better, for having little to do, and for a tasty blueberry tea brought by MIL.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸6 -
Not much to report. A few little things are getting done each day but by the end of yesterday I was aching. I'm fine on 2 legs but can't take the weight on my poorly leg and although I've been treating it gently it obviously needs more care so I'm still on the bed this morning and will add a rolled up quilt or two when I can hobble that far.
I put in a few orders yesterday and will try to do a Will Co one today. I've been thinking about returning to the £ emporium for most of the week and it ain't happening any time soon so if I can eliminate the need to go places, I won't be tempted. I need light bulbs and larger packs of bicarb and would like to see if more of the bamboo toothbrushes are available online, hence the Will Co order.
Grateful for (enforced) time to think about new strategies for getting routine things done, not being too frustrated by all the things waiting to be done and lots of entertainment (books, series, films, gentle tidying and rediscovering things, town hall party sounding rather more appealing than expected).8 -
Hi turtles
Hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday weekend.
I had a headache throughout most of Friday and Saturday which paracetamol and ibruprofen did not shift and got gradually worse over the two days. My sister was here in Madrid on Fri so went out for dinner and I drank (not too much but didn’t help the headache) anyway, we had a lovely time and called it a night fairly early, but I didn’t sleep well as even one or two drinks affects my sleep. Didn’t learn the lesson and drank yesterday as well, again only two drinks but headache got worse and then had to sleep it off so didn’t end up doing much, did manage to get out and about before it got really bad though.
I have been acting as if I’m still on holiday, have eaten out every day since Thursday, and will probably do so again today, but all meals have been cheap and as I don’t really have a “proper” holiday this year (a few little ones and a trip home) I’ll treat it as if I am still on hols and get back to normality on the 16th when it’s quieter (a friend is coming to stay next week, then its bf’s birthday) and the money has been budgeted for, so I’ll just enjoy myself and if I’m going over budget will rein it in. That’s the plan anyway. Probably not sensible but have realised that it's the only time bf and I will be in holiday mode together this year. He never really gets a summer holiday as he teaches on a summer course over the break.
So I still have no NSDs. Should get some in during the week next week. RAKs this week have been: chatting to random people at work, taking photos for people in the touristy spots in Seville, paying for my sister’s drinks.
Grateful for cheap eats (papusas and tacos) for mango margaritas, and for one mango margarita being enough.

Then other pretty dire companies began working this area and my heart would sink as I watched one of them pull in. They didn't lift anything and would moan every step of the way about short jiurneys . I began to pay above the fare on the meter hoping to sjut them up.Contrast that with the good company whose drivers would try to refuse a tip telling me they were only doing their job When I did ffinally walk to the Coop the other day the walk there was difficult and the legs weren't happy . It took me a while to figure out it was a Bank Holiday Pharmacy closed but store open anf very well stocked.Pushing the trolly outside the store because I needed fresh air with a long wait ahead for the taxi the tiny yappy . whining dog was the last thing Ineeded. I went back in to the store s couple of times to escape the racket . Going outside again because it was really hot inside I was soon joined be the Dogs owner who began telling me in full detail. When she said she just ;ived over the road and would keep my compamy I said you are very knid but my taxi will be here any minute. The barking yapping and whining was unbearble. I felt sotty for his issues but felt like screaming by them. Thankfully she went off home with the dog and my taxi pulled in.The best driver of all I'd hoped for. Always filled his bot then carried everything to the front door .I never did get back in the garden that lovlely sunny evening I had my secataurs in my hand when the clouds came rolling in and it began to pour down along with thunder and lightning. That used happen a lot at the annual Flower Show and we'd all mutter typical flowershow weather and run for cover.I did watch the Coronation something I'd never done. I did see the footage of the Queens corination after finding myelf as a smaall child outside a houst I;d never seen before no mum. dad or older brother or the light bright post war prefab I was born in.There were cakes and lots of things that hadn;t seen before.Contacting my favourite cousin here we were good friends each of us had had our fist chlid at the same time so would shop together. take the babies to the park and discovered the wonders of a launderette. we were both in renatals with our hubands then but didn;t have a washing machine. We would go the the Launderette do our washing. My couisin did alot of thinking when I aked if she knew why I was somewhere I didn;t recognise on the day I'd worked out was the Queens coronation dayShe thought and thought but although we are the sane age couldn't remember anything of those years; Awhile later she emailedI'll get in touch with our Marie in Australia. She's the keeper of all the fsmily recordsMarie and her husband had got married after WW2 and gone straight to the boat to take them to Australia. I noticed the other day there is to be a TV programme. £10 Poms. Marie and her husband Were those Poms have loved the life watching Dolphins from the windows of their lovely home and wioudn't change it for the world . They are a lot older than my cousin and I but still active and healthy. She gave me the information I needed and I coulld stop wondering about that Coronation day I'd wondered about fordecades.Sadly there was a very different outcome for many of the childern the UK sent to Canada telling them the'd have a better life there..Many of them were beaten , treated as slaves and abused. Something hardly covered in History.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.7 -
Didn't post yesterday as OH and I went to a spa day (early birthday gift from him to me). Was going to walk but was hammering it down all day so got a cab there and back, split the cost. It was local so less than £10 each. I also spent on a couple of additional drinks for us both. All in all a lovely day, made good use of the gym and pool before afternoon tea and a massage, absolute bliss! OH wanted takeaway but he paid so I caved
Today I woke at 6, quite sore from my massage, couldn't sleep so I got up. Annoying as it was the only day this weekend that I don't need to set an alarm and I woke up at that hour! Went riding on my share horse, just a gentle plod today on a newish route which I enjoyed.
Have done a quick shop for a few fresh bits and did some batch cooking so we both have lunches for the week. Have hoovered, cleaned kitchen and bathroom. Went to dye my hair but realised I didn't have a box in store so added some to the shopping delivery.
OH has gone to a friend's today so I'm going to watch some coronation highlights (not a massive fan but would like to see the event as I'm interested in history more widely!) And then watch some F1. Am on call tomorrow so will need to get some clothes ready just in case. Am hoping for a quiet day as I want to get to the gym.
@grandmanerd if you can't find bamboo toothbrushes at Wilko they def sell them on ebay, I get them there all the time.9 -
I woke this morning thinking today was going to be a NSD because my plan was to weed the garden and cut the grass. Nooope! OH had his plan which was to go into the city centre to sort kilts for our friends’ wedding at the end of the month. So instead of a NSD, we spent:
- £112 kilt hire for DS (he does look absolutely adorable in it. OH paying for his own)
- £40 on a restaurant lunch for the three of us
- £4 vegan burgers (an alternative came in yesterday’s Saneberries order that we don’t like and sent back)
- £1 curry sauce (that Saneberries don’t sell)
- £10.50 on noodles (because when I was in the shop looking for curry sauce I saw it was £1.50 a pack rather than £2.50! Took this spend out of our bulk buy budget. £10 left in it now)
After ‘splashing the cash’ we popped in to the park where DS climbed 3 ladders to get to the top of a slide which he then refused to go down. I then had to climb up and take him down the slide on my lap. The slide was quite high but thankfully some wee kids had filled the bottom with sand which helped bring us to a halt. OH had to dust me down but I think he was just using it as an excuse to smack my backside. 🤣🤣🤣Grateful today for having an envelopes system in place to pay for things and keep control over spending, for a day out with OH and DS, and for a tasty lunch from which I brought home leftovers and will have for tomorrow’s lunch too.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸7 - £112 kilt hire for DS (he does look absolutely adorable in it.
