Thankfully the weather has broken , the dust is no longer, another day of rain and Ill be complaing about the mudWell done all the losers and maintainers, gainers - dont be hard on yourselves, we have all been there, draw a lineIve been so not on plan this week. Drank like a fish, been diving for the peanut butter sandwiches , just been all out of sorts and self sabotaging. I know what was going on and it seems to be resolved so hopefully from today I can get my head back into working on my diet. Well thats my plan anywaysAs you know Im very much increased my exercising these past few months after being sat on bum for the first 4 months of the year due to injury. Im looking at doing a marathon hike in September - 26 tough miles, and it is tough, I did the half last year so know how tough it is. Last year I wasnt fit, I had had covid the week before and I did struggle so Im aiming on making life easier this time and Im putting in the miles training. Hopefully come September I shall be in the 9 stone category as well so wont be carrying so much dead weight
Last years McMillan top is hanging on me already
Anyways the point of this is, Ive got myself a fit watch and a set of scales. The watch is brilliant, the scales have scared the life out of me. Showing Im lacking in protein and water and a few other bits and pieces are a tad askew. So research is telling me Ive got to up my leafy greens - only I dont like themSo ladies, give me some ideas on leafy greens, how to cook them to make them more palatable to me? Kale is mentioned time and time again, along with broccoli - both of which I just dont like but if Ive got to eat them I will, if I can get them down my throat. I mean there are other options but not SW options - nuts for example. Im also not hot on meat proteins , I eat very little - a chicken thigh is a big enough portion for me as an example or 1 slice of beef or one sausageI need inspiration please0 -
@Longwalker I've roasted brocoli with garlic and a little parmesan.I really like green veg, though kale isn't something I regularly cook.I make a sweet potato and spinach curry with chickpeas and another veg that needs using - I find spinach isn't so good in the left overs I inevitably have.
How about a SW friendly colcannon or bubble and squeak? Could serve with poached eggs for a bit of proteinMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

Hi everyone - I'm back from my hols in Suffolk. We had a lovely week of wall to wall sunshine and heat which was most unexpected. Visited all the market towns and villages plus Southwold and Aldeburgh.
In terms of food/drink - I just had whatever I fancied. We ate breakfast at the cottage - usually scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, mushrooms, then had a coffee and cake when out. Finished with a pub meal most nights. I did choose wisely in some respects ie. no burgers and chips, rather falafel or roast chicken/haddock with veg, but I've managed to put on 4lbs!! I am now well out of target range - by 5lbs! I had hoped to WI this coming Saturday as the app is now reminding me to do so, so shall have to be mega-good this week. Doubt I'll lose 5lbs in 5 days but will try really hard.
I haven't read back yet and am going to drop DDad at my DSis's then off to ILs house this afternoon. Hope everyone is doing okay xxxCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0 -
Afternoon all, the weather has broken and we’ve had a couple of downpours so far today. It’s definitely much cooler and more comfortable.
Glad you had a good holiday @bubbs and good that your dad has put on a bit of weight. The home is definitely much better for him than the hospital.
Sounds like you had a good break too @Coxy11. I’d give WI a miss this weekend and go next weekend when you will have had a good chance to lose the weight and be in a good position to get back into target range during your grace week.
I’ve lost access to the website now so not sure what happens when I go back to group in about a month’s time. Will I have to rejoin for example or just carry on and get back into range?
The rain gas stopped so just going to walk over to the boules court for a game with DH, no doubt he’ll beat me as usual!
Will pop back sometime.

Hi all, still very hot here, still waiting for the promised rain, hope it really does arrive today.
Up and down week (in all respects), but plodding along, really hoping for a small loss on Tuesday, my scales suggest this is a possibility, but I would really like some new scales that will show half pounds.
Congratulations and commiserations as needed.
@Longwalker I only really liked any of the green stuff if smothered with gravy or generous amounts of good butter. These days I actually enjoy it with lemon juice and black pepper with fish meals or Soy sauce for meaty/nutty things if nothing sauce wise in the recipe.
I made a SC rice pudding yesterday to use some LF milk left from yogurt making - 4 small portions, when I re-weighed the amounts I had used to make it just now it came to 4 syns per portion, with yet more fruit (no jam) it satisfied the itch to have something sweet.
Enjoy what is left of the weekend.

Denise, did you book as holiday or had you used it all up?

Longwalker, crispy Kale it like seawood, put literally takes a minute in hot oven or it will burn, place on tray, sprinkle with seasoning and frylight
I have made a quiche and scotch eggs today, both free foods.
I had a soft pitta hexb, stuffed with bacon, egg and mushrooms with tomato on the side.

@bubbs - I haven’t used any holidays at all as usually I go to WI after 6 weeks but this time it didn’t work out that way. I asked to book 31 May as holiday (that was 8 weeks) but was told I couldn’t book holiday as a target member! My old consultant used to just put me down as authorised absence if I was not going to group within the 8 weeks! Needed to do that the year DH retired as we had booked 4 months away in the MH (this was before Brexit).
I just wondered if anyone knew what would happen as on the website it something like “if you have gone back to group and got a new card enter details here. Pretty much the same as when you join.0
