    Morning all,

Good news - Dad landed safely last night and has gone to DSis for a couple of days. Not so good news - they booked special assistance at both airports but he came through arrivals dragging two large cases and completely out of breath. DSis was horrified. He has already fallen out of bed and cut his head open!

Also not so great news - took emergency food aid to BIL last night and stopped for a quick update. SIL not up to visitors (understandably) and he's angry with her/the situation. I don't know how you can be angry with someone with a mental illness but there you go. Don't understand how him and DH are even related at times.

Had a GnT last night but still came in under daily syns allowance.

    Food today:
    B - poached egg, spinach, mushrooms, 1 x WM toast - P, S, 1/2 HEB
L - LO lamb tagine and rice, grapes - 0.5
D - SW carbonara, parmesam - Free, HEA
    HEA - milk
    1/2 HEB - skinny bar
    Syns - will likely have a GnT so 3 plus 0.5 = 3.5 total

Going to see The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry tonight straight after work hence the quick tea!
    Have a good day all

Morning all, last day in the sun today and then back to normality from tomorrow!  Doubt we will come back to Gambia again although have mainly just chilled.  We don’t do laying in sun by the pool or on the beach and there’s not much else to do.  We did all the trips we wanted to last time we were here so didn’t bother this time.

Got friendly with one of the bar staff and were invited for lunch with his family which we did yesterday.  Best meal we’ve had and quite SW friendly - a local dish called Chicken Yassa (spicy chicken legs), rice and salad.

Almost time for breakfast - more toast and scrambled eggs!  Will have some watermelon after to get in some Speed!

Just at the airport now having a G&T.  Flight not boarding for another hour so a long wait.  Will be glad to get home but don’t think it will be much before midnight!

@Coxy11 -that’s terrible service for your dad at the airport.  Hope it’s not as bad when he flies home.  No doubt you’ll spoil him rotten when you see him!

At least you got some sun and relaxation @joedenise. I don't expect your next break in Scotland will be as warm! But you never know, it's 20 degrees here today! 😁

I expect your BIL is angry @Coxy11 because SIL has let herself get so low before seeking help. 🤔 Hope you enjoy the film.

I'm going to the theatre with DD1 tonight so an early and easy dinner too.

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, scrambled eggs, ham (P)
    L- JP (F) prawn (P), salad (S)
D- sausages, SW chips, baked beans (F), carrot chips, onions, mushrooms (S)
Syns- LTL mayo 1, Aldi sausages 1 + whatever we have at theatre tbc
  • @Coxy11 I'm sure your Brother is going through lots of emotions right now.

Hubby is away for 5 nights from tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to having the remote and starfishing.

    Food today:
B: overnight oats (1/2 hexb) mixed fruit

L: tuna salad 1 syn for salad cream, hifi 1/2 hex b

D: vegetable "fried" rice, pork tenderloin, curry sauce 3 syns.

Youngest son made a huge lemon flan at school - it's more like cheesecake so will have a small taster, but annoyingly it's only 2 of us that like it so it is likely going to go to waste.

Morning all, back to reality!!!  It's quite warm here this morning and pleased to say we haven't needed to put the heating on so that will save a few pennies!!!  Although that will be made up for by the amount of electricity needed to do the washing.  I have done 3 loads this morning and got most of it on the line with just a few bits on the airer which wouldn't fit on the line so that's a good start.  Think there's probably another 3 or 4 loads to go plus will need to change the bedding at some point but probably not until after we come back from Scotland and it was changed just before we went away and we're only here for 5 days.

Today isn't actually going to be on plan unfortunately as haven't got any wholemeal bread so we're going to have cheese baguette for lunch.  I need to do a menu plan for the few days we're at home and for the rest of the month after Scotland and then do a shopping list and go and get it but that won't be until after lunch.

@Coxy11 - MH is so difficult for others to deal with sometimes and unfortunately people won't seek help until they hit rock bottom which seems to be what has happened with your SIL.  Your BIL will get over his anger eventually but I suspect some of his anger is frustration at the situation.

Off to do my menu planning and shopping list.

Glad you're home safely @joedenise. You must have taken loads of luggage to have all that washing! 🤣

Funnily enough, I was incredibly low on bread this week too. I used the very last slice of wholemeal for breakfast yesterday. Normal service is now restored as I went to Aldi on Friday. I buy the Essentials one, although rarely have 2 slices, it's good to have the option.

We had a great time at the theatre last night. We saw the national tour of Annie. I didn't even fancy an ice cream so still have 103 syns after 2 days! 🤣

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA milk, eggs (P), mushrooms and tomatoes (S)
    L- ham (P), hash and pickles (F, S)
    D- HB steak (P, S), SW chips (F), green stuff (S)
    Syns - weekend wine 😁

It's not just the washing from the holiday @maman!  There was a full basket by the time we left plus the towels which had been used prior to leaving so it all mounts up!  Looks as though the washing is dry so I'm going to check it shortly.  If it is dry then I will get some more washed and onto the line for a couple of hours as I can use the solar power to actually do the washing so won't cost too much!

Thoroughly enjoyed the cheese baguette for lunch - such a treat!  Have now done a bit of shopping for the few days we're at home and can't believe how much everything costs now.  Only bought a bagful of shopping and it came to nearly £20!  Only meat was a couple of packs of thick cut bacon for £4.  No peppers available today at Morrisons who have had to change the menu plan for one lunch - we'll now have jacket potatoes instead as there are a couple of decent sized ones in the bag I bought.

Have only managed to menu plan for the few days we're at home plus a few days after we get back.  Will definitely need to do a new shopping list for the next lot of meals!  Probably another £30 or more as not a huge amount of meat in the freezer apart from the lamb leg joints I got just before my holiday; a couple of chicken breasts and a couple of steaks.
