@coxy11, I know myself how disappointing it is to lose just half a pound , esp when you know you have been so good. I feel your pain xxx And what on earth is BANMGAWF?

@bubbs , good on you for going. I know how hard it has to be. My walking friend, she still has days when the tears flow because she sees someone shes not seen since her husband passed. She really has been keeping away from people, preferring to go where shes not known. But she has good friends who support her, as it sounds you do.

@Jellybaby , what is this alcohol free weekend you speak off? :) I use all my syns every week, probably go over more times then enough. I do use mine on booze, never food. However I know if I go ott on food like pasta, Im not losing. I know they say its free, fill your boots, but I dont think they realise I can easily eat a packet of pasta myself in one meal lol. I have to get the veg into me and keep the carbs as low as possible

@maman as an ex chef I HATE eating out , always disappointed , and I resent paying good money for food I can cook better myself. Doesn't help that up here we arent renowned for our fine dining - its big plates of food, and its the same everywhere. Where Mr L works they opened a fine dining place - it lasted 6 months - plug was pulled this week - it was losing money hand over fist. The place Im going to Ive been before and I was very impressed. Yes they have to put on the big plates of what people want to get bums on seats, but the chef runs a specials board at the weekends and he is very inventive with that. And he does lamb - which is as rare as hens  teeth - you couldn't give lamb away, so yep Im looking forward to that meal out big time - plus they do a huge range of cocktails at only £7 so I will probably have one of those as well :)

Also I hate shoddy service and service just about everywhere is shoddy. Staff are not trained and treat you like they are doing you a favour rather then understanding we are paying their wages and spending hard earned money and would like our time out to be a fun relaxing experience

Im not blowing my own here, but the tiny tea room I work in, every single customer is greeted,I make a fuss of the children, I chat away to the parents and grand parents, nothing is too much trouble for me and I keep a smile in place the whole day - even if Im mopping up puke from an over stuffed with sweeties child :)  Those families are spending their hard earned money with us and they want a good day and we the staff go all out to make it happen. Else they dont return

I know exactly what you mean about eating out @Longwalker. My thoughts exactly!

I've worked in a customer facing role myself and poor customer service is my pet hate. Fortunately, the twice I've eaten out this week, service has been good. 👍 but it's increasingly rare. ☹️

As for the quality of food, that's getting worse and worse. DH says it's because we eat so well at home. 😇🥰 I think it's got worse and worse, particularly since Covid and more so as the cost of living rises. I understood why places used frozen chips and veg when fresh food could be wasted if a sudden lockdown was called or they were unsure if people would come out but they've kept to it. And meals are padded out with bread and pastry and batter deep fried or pinged because they don't have proper chefs. It's a SW nightmare.

And all this costs a minimum of £30 a head for 2 courses and drinks!

Sorry for the rant. Normal service will be resumed ASAP. 😉

Afternoon all, home from our weekend away which was very synful but I was expecting that with the boozy friends we were meeting up with!  We're meeting up with them again end of August/early September before we go away to France so there won't be a WI involved between that meeting up and going on holiday!

I tend to agree about eating out usually disappointing but we ate out on Friday lunchtime and I had the most amazing seafood risotto which was made with a lobster bisque rather than just a stock, what a difference that made!  Would definitely have that again.  It was also the most SW friendly thing on the menu.

Welcome @Doris17, glad you decided to join us.  Have you actually started SW yet?  Are you planning on going to group, doing it online or just going it alone?   Feel free to post your menu plans if that would help you keep track.

As it's quite sunny and very windy have decided to do some washing this afternoon rather than wait until tomorrow.  Hopefully can get it out onto the line for a couple of hours before the rain!

    Back on plan properly today!

    B - fry up - sausages, egg, mushrooms, tomato, beans - P; S; F; 2
    L - burger, onions, gherkins in soft pitta - HEB; S; 0.5
D - mini chicken roast with roast potatoes, roasted veg, green veg - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - soft pitta
Syns - LF sausages 2; LF burger 0.5

    Have a good day everyone.

Hope you enjoyed seeing your friends despite the weather @joedenise. The seafood sounds like it was worth any syns. 👍

I went to Sainsburys this morning as I wanted some turkey mince (linked to Aldi price) so I can make meatballs while I've got the oven on later. Bought some YS salmon too, so well worth the visit.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, bacon, eggs (P)
    L- ham (P), veggie hash and pickles (F, S)
D- roast chicken (P), SW roast potatoes (F), veg (S)
    Syns - gravy 4, weekend wine 😁
  • Hi all,

I braved the scales this morning, looks like a 3lb gain over the last 10 days, which was only to be expected. Not sure my head is back in the right place just yet but I'm going to try to be back on track.

I played cricket this morning so had an early breakfast of overnight oats, skipped a bacon sandwich at the club. It was a slow game so didn't really get my heart rate up much.

Skipped the pub after saving 9 syns+ on a pint, and came home for a ham and cheese salad. Nipped to the supermarket and stocked up on fruit. Had a large fruit salad and yoghurt for my dinner as didn't really fancy anything.

Got a good week planned also have a night free so can use that for an evening walk until September.

Well done to the losers, and sorry to those who had a gain, @bubbs glad you are making some progress but sorry its been so difficult to get this far.
