b***** failing so far & have decided on a plan. Seeing GP for nicotenine stuff tomorrow & decided that Monday will be day 1...want to enjoy sense & sensibility with a nice red on Sun! I know, I know, I'm crap but hey ho...individual challanges & thats when I've set mine for. Book group on Mn & I'm going to drive & never drink & drive so will be safe! Have had a fair amount to drink over Christmas so need a detox physically as well as financially but from past exp (gave up for 6m last year) needs to be the psych right time & mon is it for me> Well done all those doing well! Any nightmares? I find the first few days not drinking are the hardest as I get really bad dreams ...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi all
I've kind of fallen noto the wagon this last month and I have no idea why. I used to drink wine most nights but I've somehow got out of the habit of it. Think it may have been when I had flu so didnt drink for a few days. I've not given up completely - still having a drink when I go out or have friends round (once a week ish) but I'm hoping that the much lower quantities will be good for my waistline and budget (I was buying a box of wine a week = £60 a month = scary!!)
However, I've noticed a side effect thats really getting me down - I'm finding it very difficult to get to sleep. I suffer from OCD and anxiety/panic attacks and my symptoms are worse when I'm in bed (its quiet, dark, no distractions - just me and my thoughts) whereas before a couple of glasses of an evening would relax me and I'd fall to sleep no problem, now I lay awake frightened and panicking.
I have had help from dr with this - have tried all sorts in past to no avail - however, sounds wrong but alcohol helped me manage my symptoms in a way. The way things are at the minute is horrible and I hate the sinking feeling of dread as soon as bedtime comes around. I know I probably used alcohol as a crutch, which is bad, but it was only a couple of glasses of an evening - nothing meriting AA.
Bit bleak for a light hearted thread - I know - sorry guys. Any advice?MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Well done on the 6 months last year In search of me.

But this year I have a number,,, and you lot are watching me,,, So we gotta do it now dont we..? :A“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
It maybe noise that could help. How about putting on a gentle CD quietly or the radio on sleep and see if that helps....I have a fan on which is white noise but that HAS to go as expensive & I fall asleep with it on! Need to change to the radio version! Its possibly a comfort thing so try setting the scene for bed...set a routine..bath, pj's, no internet, watching TV with no other stimulus (ie chatter on phone etc) for an hour before you go to bed? Horlicks can help & making sure you're not hungry or thirsty before you go to sleep. Re the panic. Lie in bed & focus on your toes and breathing...calmly work your way up your body, breathing in & out gently and see if that helps. I usually fall asleep before I get to my tummy!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
