I've been following this thread and would like to join, if that's OK! I'd already decided the wine had to go (need to deal with debt and the amount I spend on wine is just too high). 1st day went fine, although the kids were surprised! Now I'm finishing my last pack of cigs.....that really will be a challenge!
I drink at home, very rarely when I'm out as I always drive but at home esp after work so I'm expecting the temptation to cheat to get worse as the week goes on.0 -
Well done on the drink.

Finishing off my stash now: there's a lot less gin left than I thought too, must have been a right lush last night... It's a very sad feeling as you watch it ebb away!
But I had several 'dry' weekends in the months running up to Christmas last year, so I know perfectly well I can do it. It's just the first couple of dry weekends that are hard really. (I don't normally drink during the week, only weekends are 'wet' anyway for me. There are exceptions, but they have to be due to 'good news' rather than 'bad days'. My reasoning is that I have so many 'bad days', esp. due to work, that if I judged a bad day sufficient reason for a drink or two, I might as well join AA right now. A Premium Bonds win, OTOH, is well good enough reason for nipping out and getting a bottle).
(Yes, it's not the w/e and I'm drinking. Holidays are an honourable exception, and I'm not back at work yet. Gimme a break.)0 -
This is my 3rd day of no alcohol as I didn't have anything on New Year's Eve as I wasn't well - so a sort of kick start. Tonight has been difficult as I've spent the day cleaning and decluttering and I usually like to reward myself with a glass of wine (ate chocolate instead!!)
I'll be JAFA #4 if that's ok. I can't see it in anyones sig but I can change it if necessary.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

Good luck Cassie for tonight. Day 3 for me ,but as I have mentioned, the real test will be on Monday when I am on 4 days off. Have never gone more than 6 days without beer before and Monday will be day 7.

I will join you in the no alcohol stakes, as I seem to be spending about £100 a month on alcohol and all it does is give me a headache and some random boy's phone number. Hurrah for extra £100 to go towards paying off my debts!Total debt: £3400.
