I’m home!! Had a brilliant holiday it’s was scorching hot like, nice to be home, little dogs eye is still poorly went to vets before we went away as her face is swollen and her eye is closed a lot got some drops and pain relief but it doesn’t look much better so will need to take her back to the vets see what they think, managed to bring home £820 so I have moved that into the house fund, we have a few days of expense yet while we are still off work, an agricultural show today which will cost £40 entry for 5 of us and then some dinner and ice cream probably £100 total, then Friday we have a wedding reception to go to so that will be £80 and then Sunday we hope to have a trip to ikea and a wander round making some plans won’t be expensive just some dinner in there maybe £25 then it’s back to work and back to saving as much as possible xx

Welcome home! We just got back yesterday. Sounds like you were pretty restrained with your budget, and you have some nice plans for the rest of the week. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone, been a busy day today with GCSE results for the youngest, she worked so hard for her results and she did brilliantly all 9, 8 and 7s which in old grades would be a** a * and a she got a B in maths which is brilliant as it’s a subject she has really struggled with. Off to college next bless her.
DH was paid today so have moved £200 to driving lesson pot as that’s coming up next.
little dog is really worrying me and is booked at the vets tomorrow, seriously short on vets here so have to wait to be seen I’m hoping they get her better tomorrow, never claimed on pet insurance before but if she needs sedation xray antibiotics etc might need to look at how to claim I’m hoping the vets can help me with that, its Tesco insurance we have.
I just want her better 😔

Been the vets and they now think she has a dental abscess so she’s got antibiotics and go back Thursday for sedation xray and investigation we paid another £79 today but the lady on reception said they can complete a claim for us so I’ve left it with her as Thursdays appointment they said will be around £800 plus extraction if required 😞 I’ve no idea how insurance works we have already paid £143 then £79 for the same illness and do I then also pay the excess? Any help would be great xx

Would the amount already paid ie the £143 & the £79 not be counted as part of the excess.
I have never claimed on mine.

  • I'm with Tesco insurance and had to claim once when Poppy was a greedy puppy and jumped on the counter to get a chicken satay skewer, ate the lot, stick included!!
Check what your excess is and if you've paid over the excess don't pay anymore just let the vets sort out the payment with the insurance company. If you've paid more than the excess they will refund you the difference.
Hope she gets better soon, it's awful seeing them ill when they can't tell you whats wrong.

Thanks so much for the info, the excess is £150 so paid over that so hopefully won’t need to pay anything else then which is a relief! Although we have got the money it’s nice to be able to hang onto it!
been to ikea yesterday there is so much stuff I want for the new house, will need to prioritise though and not get carried away, it’s so hard as we don’t have any measurements for the rooms and no chance of measuring till they start clearing out but my mams is very similar in size and design, having a lazy bank holiday today as back at work tomorrow after my holidays are over 😔
