Yes @outoftheviciouscircle still with the parents, overall it’s going fine no real issues here,  the only thing is we miss our own space but it will be worth the wait hopefully 🙏

works been a bit better this last few days will see how it goes

currently I’m a bit stressed that DH has changed job and it’s less money and doesn’t seem to be much opportunity for overtime although it did say guaranteed overtime on the ad, maybe it will sort its self out, I just hope we will manage, it does seem to be better working conditions and a nice company so let’s give it’s a few weeks and see how it goes

had an expensive weekend which never helps as we both went out separately with friends which doesn’t happen often and then we went out for a Wetherspoons meal with DD2 yesterday at uni, will try and have a less expensive week this week to make up for this

  • Hi, have spent the evening reading your diary, I totally understand paying down the 0% as it is the bigger monthly payment, I have decided to do the same with my mattress one, plus it will go quicker! You have achieved loads in such a small amount of time, well done!

Thank you so much @Aimingforthegoodlife for stopping by and for reading! I hope it hasn’t been to boring I do tend to just blather on!

We have managed to pay off such a lot and only have a very small amount of debt left, currently everything is going to the house savings but I have started to be more realistic on what we will be able to do at the house I think I was getting a bit carried away thinking we could renovate the entire house on a very small amount of money considering how much everything costs these days.

still stressed by DH new job he’s 3 weeks of shifts with no extra overtime, I know I need to wait for him to settle in but at this point now he’s £150 down on a weeks work because he was working 60 hours, I realise that’s not sustainable and I know he was very tired by it but to know that isn’t available IF we needed the extra money is very concerning to me right now, with the bigger mortgage to pay I think things are going to get very tight, trying to keep myself from fretting! Have a feeling this will be better for his health but much worse for our bank balance and I know health is more important but my stress levels are at all time high!

Try not to stress yourself about DH not getting offered any overtime yet. Think of this as an opportunity for him to restore his batteries.

As you say health is more important than wealth, you just don't appreciate how much until your health is compromised. My OH has been chronically ill for nearly 2 decades and now he also has ME. This has an impact on every member of our household. Things take longer to do, cost more, he misses out on things most of us take for granted...

If you needed extra income in the future one or both of you could get a second job, in a pub or seasonal work.

Sorry for the extra stress you are under @Baileys_Babe

I think whilst DH is settling in to his new job, overtime shouldn't be required of him. But, once he's passed probation, it should be an option as it was advertised as being available.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Thank you for your reassurance @Baileys_Babe and I am sorry to hear about DH sending lots of love, you are totally right health is so important and I think you are spot on about him having chance to rest on a few less hours
@satchmo1 thank you for your wisdom, I think you are right and they are likely giving him chance to settle in and get to know what he’s doing before adding on extra hours, he’s a bus driver so normally worked for a big company doing service work this is a small family business with newer buses which are warm or cool depending on weather and do not break down every day I do think it will be better for him I’m just such a worrier over money because it’s always been such a struggle to get by

I’m trying to reassure him that in a few weeks when he’s settled in they will start to offer him more work/responsibilities with overtime etc

he is an anxious person and worries a lot, I don’t worry so much just about money usually

day off tomorrow so that will be food shopping day, need to do my menu for the week.

  • Once you are settled in your new house you will be able to create a budget that will help you settle the anxiety. I know your mortgage is a lot more but so are your wages so that should help with any gaps between your husbands wages.

Lazy Sunday for us today, changed the beds, 4 loads of washing done and cooked Sunday dinner, my son and his GF visited they are going to be having a couple from the Ukraine come to live with them and they are just sorting visas etc so I am proud of them for being so kind.
News on the house the couple who live there are packing, the house is very full but this is a good sign!
No money news today, but other than some grocery money sent to DD1 we had a no spend day 😊
