Morning paid the holiday today didn’t owe as much as we expected so £1207 paid today for that, I’ll be off to work today and then need to call at my sister in laws for an hour as they are having a little tea party for FIL 80th DH can’t go as he is working till late.

I opened a chase bank account ready for holidays and just waiting for the card, the app looks quite straight forward, there is a savings account on there paying 3.8% so it’s got me thinking about transferring the savings we have into there as currently with Halifax paying 0.95% my only hesitation is I have always had my accounts all in the same place on the Halifax app but I think 🤔 I should probably change as it could mean over £300 in savings in a year I’ll speak to DH about it later on x

I definitely think you need to discuss with DH where you are putting your savings.

Halifax are not rewarding your loyalty 0.95% in the current market is appalling it will be worth looking around at various providers to see who is offer what. You may also want to spread your savings over a few different providers and remember to check if the account is protected by fscs (Financial Services Compensation Scheme). £300 is not to be sneezed at.

On the Barclays App you can add in non Barclays Accounts which means you can keep an eye on everything in the same place. Do Halifax or Chase do that?

Thanks @Baileys_Babe I agree, @MatyMoo that’s a very good idea, I believe my daughter has linked her Santander student account to her Halifax online banking so I think I will spend some time this evening /tomorrow reading up on how it works I’d like to see it all on one app rather than needing to switch onto a separate one, we don’t have a lot of savings by any means but we have money to spend on the house now and will be adding to this for 6 months so I do think it’s time to be a bit more savvy with my accounts to get the money to earn something while it’s there x

Morning, received a refund today from TV licence of £79 which I wasn’t expecting, have transferred this to holiday savings and I would say we are about there for spending money, waiting still to hear from council tax, I emailed them rang them and filled in the moving house form a few weeks ago but heard nothing, I did cancel the Direct Debit so they might need a payment have to wait and see when they eventually get in touch with me!

Work today, and judging by Friday and Saturday I think I would rather not bother! 3 fallen sales a complaint, 3 sellers not happy, it’s that type of market unfortunately the days of houses selling in a few days in my area have passed!

going to ask if we can pop over to the house we are buying at the weekend just to try and measure some rooms, see where radiators are, ask a few questions, it’s strange to buy private it’s not like you can pop online and have a look at the photos when you have a question 🙋🏻‍♀️

We’ll best get ready for work have a good day everyone x

When you visit the house you are buying take LOTS of photos, measure everything, and establish the locations of the water stop tap, the water, gas & electric metres, and the fuse box.

  • I think it's the same everywhere. Houses just don't seem to be selling at the moment and if I hadn't moved last year, I certainly wouldn't be doing it now but when all this eventually stabilises you will be busier than ever. There has to be so many people out there desperate to move that are just hoiding off.

Great news on your holiday being paid off, it'll be here before you know it.x

Oh definitely @Baileys_Babe I’ll try my best although the couple are so lovely they chatter away and I totally forgot what I’m meant to be doing 😂
@outoftheviciouscircle i have worked in estate agency for 28 years now it all just goes through cycles 🚲 it’s hard but it will settle eventually I think it’s just such a shock when interest rates have been so low, it seems this week is just one of those weeks!

Make a list and have it visible when you visit so they can see you have some goals whilst visiting. Also allow plenty of time for chatting it will make the whole process run smoother and will probably be interesting.

Great news DD got the job at the pharmacy I’m so happy for her, she did a 4 hour work trial as did 5 other applicants and she was chosen, so she will start on Saturday 9-1 it’s a little bit of pocket money, but more importantly it’s work experience and experience with the public and gives her something to do to which she needs now she has finished school and it will still work when she’s at college come September.

Nothing to report money wise pretty slow week to be honest

DH car is in for MOT service and the air con fixed tomorrow also engine management light came on today so that will also need looking into, I’m hoping all in it’s no more than £500 but seems unlikely

Work was quite busy all things considered and we have sold 3 this week so to be honest not bad

will report in tomorrow as DH gets paid
