Thanks .. I would use octopus compare, but I have to keep signing in! Agilebuddy does the same thing, without the hassle, so I guess I'll stick with that.

If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..

Simply cannot get my head around the idea that I am being PAID to use the tumble drier, the airfryer, and top up the EV .. how electricity is costed and charged for, seems a complete and total mess to me.

Even more bonkers than usual, today, with a saving session now on. I was out and missed both.

Shortly speaking when there's too much available electricity prices go negative to discourage anyone who can stop, but some get paid let's say 5p/kWh (incentive) + electricity price - so when it costs -2p it's still worth to produce it 5-2=3p.

Theres also a lot more - you can't stop nuclear for 2h, tell solar house owners to stop.. and you need to get rid of excess, negative prices help. It also helps a lot in shifting, negative prices cause people to cook dinner at 1pm savings Octopus money at 5pm, marketing etc.

Yep, planning some heavy duty laundry, deferred my bread baking for the week's supply from Friday, using V2L this evening to get more space in the car battery, a deep hot bath to empty the immersion tank, a cleaning cycle on the dishwasher and that's about my limit on useful work. I have a new laundry room but was waiting to get a tumble dryer, but maybe I should have got one earlier. Putting washing on the line today would have been a forlorn exercise in distributing it over the nearby county line..

Just fixed up my new portable air conditioner to vent via the woodburner (which is as much use as achocolate fireguard, in summer) and all looks well on the initial test. Woodburner flue getting hotter and room getting cooler and drier, quite rapidly. Tomorrow I shall have a battle between the ASHP and the A/C, just for the fun of it!

Probably won't get another heat wave, this year, now that I'm prepared.

My adult self will also do sensible things like car charging and laundry.

I'm interested in the idea of the venting the portable air conditioner via the woodburner, as one of the things that put me off them was the need to open a window for the vent. Do you just leave the door open? Or is it more sophisticated than that?
