My direct debit has been £10 since September, to use up last year's solar credit. It was looking like I'd be at a zero balance at the next billing point, this coming weekend, but it looks like Trump's war might push me slightly into the red.

My DD has been at zero since July (additional solar was installed in April). I’ve cashed quite a bit of credit out (and took a little more than planned as I had an expensive month in November) so thought I’d be in the red by the end of last month but ended up a whole £5 in credit and am now back to generating significantly more than I use so exporting more than enough to pay my bill and start building up credit… which is one reason to get moving on the heat pump decision!

As @silverwhistle says, it works for me. In fact, I don’t think I’d have done nearly as well on a solar tariff like Flux (my system isn’t eligible for IOF even when it’s available).

I moved from flux to agile on 2nd December 25. Comparing Jan and Feb this year and last, both Jan and Feb 26 had greater income from solar and less cost from import than 2025 so currently working out better. However, export rate has just reduced 3p per unit so expecting to be disappointed soon.

Heat pump installation isn't something that happens quickly, it could take a few weeks or even months to get an acceptable survey and then a date for them to start fitting, so be aware it's not going to happen the week after you decide you want one.

I'm aware of that. I have a design, and one quote, and am arranging others. And it isn't as if a heat pump is going to be using vast amounts of electricity over the summer. Plus it needs to fit in with a building project. However, I do still need to make some decisions around options.
