Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.1 -

greenbee said:MikeyPGT said:northernstar007 said:Indeed, my understanding is that the local area is responsible for the costs of upgrading the infrastructure when new generation is brought online, which as you imply is passed on to the local (regional) customers. Personally I think regional pricing, including variations in SC, is a huge mistake. We all rely on the energy network and should pay out part accordingly. Likewise with regional planning decisions - these should be made at a national level based on what the country needs, not what the local area is prepared to approve or tolerate. The whole industry needs a major overhaul. We desperately need more green energy to remove our reliance on gas (for political, financial and environmental reasons), but the current structures in place make it very difficult. We simply do not have the necessary joined up thinking in place to get the outcomes we need as a country.3

If anyone wants to do the daily prices themself at 10am
Go to nordpool and select the date, scroll down and look at the various block prices times the amount e.g. overnight 23:00-07:00 by 2.2 and it gives you the price of 18.8p (well 188.1 but if specific dived by 10 to make it look nice)
