But you also have to have your wi-fi router running as well ... my best estimate would be about 0.01kWh in each half hour slot based on having switched everything off except the router and the miniQrizB said:

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.0 -
yesterday my base rate was 7w that was just router and mini1
-
google says it uses 2w
just noticed i'm sat next to the leaflet that came with it, the power supply (USB mains plug) is rated at 5W1 -
Actual consumption is no more than 1 W in my case. Much less than my router, let alone fridge and freezer.

Yeah I'd be surprised if my (5G) router uses less than 6W which would leave 1 for the mini0

My energy monitor which in theory measures down to 0.1W (and I have seen it read that low), held steady at 0.0W after the initial - tiny - plug-in spike.

The router and wifi are needed for so many other things these days, I'm sure most people leave them on 24/7, we couldn't even operate most of the lights without it, not to mention the CCTV and all sorts of other little niceties (Like Internet radio or TV at 4am!)MikeyPGT said:

Probably not even that. The mini contains an ESP module plus a zigbee module to handle the communications with the smart meter. An esp8266 draws ~70mA with WiFi active, and I would imagine the zigbee module is similar. So say 150mA in all, that works out at 0.75W. If energy saving options have been enabled in the firmware, it is possible that consumption will be even lower.QrizB said:

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

According to Agile portal, there wasn't any negative pricing on Xmas day last year (couple of zero slots by the look of it, and a lot of zero slots the previous day). Maybe you are including export in your statement or suchlike?MikeyPGT said:
True - Christmas pricing was mad last year. Actually got paid to cook my Christmas dinner. Sadly this year I'm away so no chance really to make up for the last couple of weeks, however saying that I only spent 36p on electric yesterday so I shouldn't really complain. Spirit of the blitz and all that!masonic said:Tomorrow is looking much better, still a bit of a morning peak, but much lower than today.Regarding timing of moving back and forth, last year the festive period was cheap, so I am loosely considering switching TO Agile for the holidays and beyond.
