Record low consumption yesterday, mostly the odd 1-2W LED light, running my computers off their batteries and charging phone with power banks, fridge turned off evening and not opened at all as eating cooked meat and tinned tuna (both on special offer, as it happens, so cheaper than normal). Four cups of microwaved coffee the major expense, down to three cups today. All good fun but will soon turn tiresome.
I ended yesterday with a spend of 50p exc standing charge so just about on track to average £1 a day over the week - currently hiding out in the nice warm Library charging my phone and laptop whilst my home sits dark, cold and unloved with everything switched off!

You can tell the young families where I live, houses ablaze with Xmas lights etc whilst the older people have a single bulb on
  • At that time last night ours would have been in complete darkness, and even when we got home once we’d got indoors you’d have still seen a dark house from the front, so not sure that’s a good conclusion to draw really. Round here the folk who already have their Christmas lights up and twinkling are all retired folk with grandkids visiting regularly!

  • Morning all.

We finally dumped Agile yesterday. Electric only, heating and hot water from our log burner, cooking using an electric Aga and air fryer. Immersion gets used in the summer only. Evening meal was just getting stupid in terms of cost over the last week.

I should probably have done this in the autumn, although I do appreciate that we are currently in an “perfect storm” re supply. But I just want a bit of certainty over Xmas and into the new year.
Agile prices a little better today but still in the 20p-73p range which is hopeless. The fix is 29p/12p. Standing charge is a bit pricier at 55p.

I can’t get Octopus to confirm our E7 times and it’s not on the meter. So I’m working on 12-7, dishwasher and washing machine on at 6. Comments ?

When do people on here who do similar tend to switch back to Agile in the spring ?

Tomorrow is looking much better, still a bit of a morning peak, but much lower than today.
Regarding timing of moving back and forth, last year the festive period was cheap, so I am loosely considering switching TO Agile for the holidays and beyond.

True - Christmas pricing was mad last year. Actually got paid to cook my Christmas dinner. Sadly this year I'm away so no chance really to make up for the last couple of weeks, however saying that I only spent 36p on electric yesterday so I shouldn't really complain. Spirit of the blitz and all that!

You may have left after the worst of it Argyle-Mikey, but there's a lot to be said for certainty in cost.

I *think* I managed to reduce and shift my use past few days to keep the bill at its normal level, tonight will tell.

According to Agile portal, there wasn't any negative pricing on Xmas day last year (couple of zero slots by the look of it, and a lot of zero slots the previous day).  Maybe you are including export in your statement or suchlike?
  • prices are out for tomorrow, can feel a bit more relaxed from making a cuppa to even charging the laptop up tomorrow
  • aye much more sane prices tomorrow.

I'm kicking myself for not having plugged the home mini in before. Even expensive days feel much more in control when can see what your using in real time.
