The above shows it much more clearly.

Virtually no wind or solar for a few days, plus not all the nuclear plants are online adding to the supply and demand issues.
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)
  • And it is relatively warm, which is also keeping demand lower.

good, it can stay that way, hope the mrs isnt complaining
  • I see that there are moves afoot thanks to Martin Lewis to oblige suppliers to offer no-SC tariffs.  As each new Agile/Tracker tariff is announced with higher SC's I wonder how Octopus will react? And how Agile-Tariff consumers will be affected ..

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • No reason why we should be affected I wouldn't think - the new no SC tariff will just be another option for folk to choose from, and should any of us wish to switch from Agile to one of those no SC tariffs, then of course we'd be able to do so the same as anyone else. From  my part though, I'd think it would be relatively unlikely that we'd see much saving by doing so.

Got up this morning to 8kWh used mostly for the underfloor heating and a cost of 9p. Only gas used so far today is for hot water and that would have been used anyway. Downstairs was warm, bathroom warm enough, bedding had done a wash & tumble dry. Oh and the Christmas cake finished it's cooking during the final 3 slots last night at next to no cost which was also a win!

Arrgggghhhhhhhhh!  Ever since Apple did the latest update to ios, my app for my inverter has been a bit dodgy. I didn't spot that it had changed the charge from 50A to zero, so as a consequence I got no charging overnight, and all the heavy duty stuff I turned on, drained from the battery.  Am now going to have to find the cheapest daytime slots to charge before 4pm. GRRRRRRRR.

Even more annoying was I've been awake from about 3.30am and never thought to check it.

I now keep checking my app @Slinky as I find settings don't always stick!

Just over 27kWh used overnight at a cost of just over 7p - and managed to finish with a full battery. I deliberately discharged the battery last night (I have to remember to turn the Eddi off while I do this, and then turn it back on) and also set the charging slots manually (I switch my tariff from Agile to dual rate and create 1p slots where I want to charge) so that the heavy load uses the grid rather than just discharging and recharging the battery, and I know that I have roughly 2 hours of charging-only after the last of the heating/immersion/WM/DW has finished. I don't think my app selects the best slots anyway for Agile, but mostly it doesn't matter. If pricing is particularly low and/or i'm planning heavy use I've accepted that I need to make manual adjustments.
  • Yes - we’ll switch to underfloor heating overnight - the 12.xx slot early doors is slightly annoying but hopefully everything will be thoroughly warm by then anyway and just ticking over so the balance should still work.

I’ve no idea how people can get their use down to below 1kWh - even our baseload with us not here is above that in this house - and essentially that’s just with the fridge, router and things like clock radio and oven clock. By the time general “living in the house” things like lights, even a little bit of cooking, and a few uses of the kettle are added, then we’re on somewhere about 2.5kWh for a minimal use day. I’m sure we could get that down a bit, but I’m not sure it would be in any way enjoyable as a regular thing!
Assuming I eat at home for all meals, my base is 3kwh. On Wednesday last week I managed to get down to 2.3kwh, but only because I was out from 7am until bout 8.30pm and had dinner out. Even at the expensive days we had last week I’m happy with 3kwh a day because I know I can balance it out later.

In reality my large usage is the EV and I don’t use it often enough to HAVE to charge it on expensive days, so for example it’s been sat since last Wednesday and I won’t use it until today; so charged that at less than 2p in the early hours of this morning.

Your system sounds much more automatable than ours. I just have 3 each of charge and discharge slots and have to pick the best 3 chunks of time.

I've charged for an hour but have turned it of now as the sun has come through some hazy cloud now so I'm getting nearly 1.5kwh charge; back up to 65%.
