The recent peaks have allowed me to my hone my consumption going forward, so should be able to save a little more each day without impinging on my quality of life and does illustrate that even as an ultra low user I can still cut usage when forced to by high prices. Lowest daily usage was 0.61kw against normal usage of 1.1-1.5kw, no solar or batteries. As it has been relatively warm for winter I have not used any gas recently, either - if I had the winter fuel allowance to spend I would probably have gone through about a tenner's worth of a week at this point in the winter, ramping up in January.4

Pretty much caught up on laundry now, even if not at the best pricing. Cooking this morning will mean a full DW for tonight, and if prices are as low as forecast I'll also set the immersion to top op. And wash bedding before I'm away. I might even do some ironing!1

Yes - we’ll switch to underfloor heating overnight - the 12.xx slot early doors is slightly annoying but hopefully everything will be thoroughly warm by then anyway and just ticking over so the balance should still work.I’ve no idea how people can get their use down to below 1kWh - even our baseload with us not here is above that in this house - and essentially that’s just with the fridge, router and things like clock radio and oven clock. By the time general “living in the house” things like lights, even a little bit of cooking, and a few uses of the kettle are added, then we’re on somewhere about 2.5kWh for a minimal use day. I’m sure we could get that down a bit, but I’m not sure it would be in any way enjoyable as a regular thing!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I have a couple of 17 inch laptops, can use on batteries, one for internet, one for TV, and will last out the extended peak, then charge on cheap rates. That saves a bit compared to using monitor and TV but would not want to do for more than a few days. No cooking and microwave reduced number of cups of coffee, again ok for limited period. No cooking so no need to open fridge and turned off for three to four hours in the evening - it is a small fridge and uses 50W when running. If you don't open it use goes right down. LED lighting everywhere, as low as 1W in places. Everything is turned off at mains when not in use except the fridge. Cold water showers brilliant way to wake up in the morning. But to get there you need to buy a power monitor thingie and go through everything to check things out, an old satellite box for instance might consume 25W in standby, which is 0.3kw a day, etc, etc. All good fun if you ain't busy earning £50-100 an hour when it probably does not really matter.0 -
What's the reason for today's dip? The weather is no different from the last couple of days when it reaches the £1 limit.
