You must have just come off a fix?

Could go up to 43-43p in 1st April just so you are aware.
No we are on Next Flex variable with Eon Next. Up to January our Elec EPG was 17pkw and from January it’s gone up to 31.84p pkw. I contacted them but they were no help and just said prices went up.

I think you are misunderstanding your bill. The EPG rate you quote of 17p & 31.84p is the discount amount that is taken off the actual kwh rate, this is the governemnt support.

On Flex From 1st Oct 2022 for me , the cost per kwh was 48.49p with a discount of 17p, so I paid 31.49p/ kwh
On Flex from 1st Jan 2023 for me, the cost per kwh was 63.05p with a discount of 31.84p, so I paid 31.21p/ kwh

The discounted rate is higher from January as the cost of electric increased, but customers were paying about the same. From April 1st 2023 this rate will change again, as will electricity costs.

Please work on the Twitter account for Eon Next as an answer like this is exactly what I needed the last 3 days. Thank you 🙏🏼

Ha Ha, thanks. They probably could have made their bills easier to understand. But honestly I don't think half the advisors understand the EPG these days anyway. Had my own little problem with Eon Next myself recently.
I was in Twitter messages for 3 days with 6 different agents. Each gave a different explanation to my increase in bill. Good luck with yours. 🙌🏼
If you had a smart meter you could see for yourself how you how and when you use energy and your daily cost. CS staff do not have a crystal ball so I am not surprised that they couldn’t answer your questions.

No they don’t. But they also had nothing of use to help apart from copying and pasting my bills back to me. My usage is the same every month so thought it could be a change in price.

Ok - do you want to post some screenshots of your bills (with all personal information blocked out) into the thread so we can see how the use looks month on month? We need to see the bit that shows use in kWh - the meter readings themselves.

Otherwise, if you would prefer, you could just note your readings for the last few months in here - along with any letters that appear after the readings on the bills - most likely C (customer) A (actual) or E (estimated)

Think your confusing the EPG discount with the actual EPG unit rate.
Wheras some suppliers just quote a net rate - EOn quote a gross and discount.
"Confusion maybe largely / in part" as EOn use "EPG" on the bill / stament line(s) - but this is the line for the EPG discount - "note the -VE sign on the cash amount on the line".
    "edited"

The discount went form 17p ex VAT to 31.8p ex VAT on Jan 1st - and that appears on the bills as something like this
Energy Use                                       xx.x kWh @ gross tariff rate p/kWh   £yy.yy
    Energy Price Guarantee                    xx.x kWh @ 31.84p/kWh                - £zz.zz

On flat rate the difference between the two rates will be around the average 34p EPG level.
So (tariff rate - 31.84p) = govt regional EPG price

"The gross tariff rate, discount and govt web tables below are all ex VAT - the VAT is added on Eon bills after total"

The acutal net rate paid changed a fraction of a penny depending on regions - unless you were on E7 multirate.
In which case you might find your day and night changed by over 2p in some regions with EOn. "One EOn E7 user here reported c17% on his off peak rate."

See govt tables for before / after Jan 1st Ofgem cap change on links at  -
PS Expect this page to update with April figure (last time they were 5 days - c3 working days behind Ofgem cap - but they might still be grappling with the whole £3000 vs £2500 EPG rate level question this time)

@Scot_39 The only substantial rises when the cap changed in January were for E7 customers - and the OP has said they are on single rate I believe. However it was established earlier in the thread that they were indeed confusing the EPG discount with the unit rate, I think.

It’s unlikely to be a “price change” that has increased the OP’s bill this month - more likely that the bill is for a longer period/use has increased/ there is an estimated reading in there throwing things out.

Hi thanks. In January when the price increased they recalced my bill and put it as an estimate. But I did send them my reading. My latest bill was 37 days long(submitted my reading a bit later).

Just taking the actual readings it looks like you have used a bit more than usual over the past month and a bit. Could very possibly be because as the winter has gone on people have just got a bit fed up with being cold and so the temperature requirements have crept up. Otherwise have people been at home more for any reason during that time period?

One significant question here is possibly how exactly you heat your home allowing that you are presumably electric only but on a single rate tariff?
Also - check that the immersion heater hasn’t been left switched on as that could account for the additional use.

We have not used it any different than normal and that’s what confused me. I guess it just may be one of those I’ll have to wait and see about next month. But It went up by £200 taking into account the extra days. 😐
