You were likely on a fix  up to January then as from April 2022 NextFlex was 27p. From October 2022 it went up to 33p and will likely hit 41p in April

Are you by any chance on Economy 7 and have seen an increase to your off-peak rate? that is the only situation in which anyone should have seen a significant rate increase so far this year - although yours would be higher than most.

If that's not the case, and you genuinely have been being charged 17p/kWh then personally I would be inclined to keep very quiet indeed about it - and hope they never notice!
No I haven’t. But Eon are the ones who have repeatedly given me these figures this week. Also a friend on the same in this area.

Thanks. Maybe I’m getting my terminology wrong? On my bill the line for Energy Price Guarantee has these rates. I have never been on a fix with Eon Next. I wish!

OK - well for clarity the EPG rate for single rate electric has been on average 34p/kWh since 1st October I think it was. There have been no significant increases to single rate unit rates since then, so if you have been paying 17p then lucky you!

Hang on though - I tell you what HAS been in the region of 17p if I recall correctly - the EPG discount to the capped electricity unit rate? So unit rate under the cap = £0.51 - 17p = unit rate under the EPG of £0.34.

Could it be that the supplier has changed the way that they show the discount on the bills perhaps?

Could that be the amount discounted from the original unit rates?  You might have
    XYZ kWh@ 52p
    - EPG XYZ kWh @ 17p

    Then
    ABC kWh @ 60+p
    - EPG ABC kWh @ 33p

Both should result in you paying for your kWh at a rate of 33-35p.

Well, I'm glad we got there - I rather wish for your sake that you HAD been being charged 17p/unit though!

You must have just come off a fix?

Could go up to 43-43p in 1st April just so you are aware.
No we are on Next Flex variable with Eon Next. Up to January our Elec EPG was 17pkw and from January it’s gone up to 31.84p pkw. I contacted them but they were no help and just said prices went up.

I think you are misunderstanding your bill. The EPG rate you quote of 17p & 31.84p is the discount amount that is taken off the actual kwh rate, this is the governemnt support.
On Flex From 1st Oct 2022 for me , the cost per kwh was 48.49p with a discount of 17p, so I paid 31.49p/ kwh
On Flex from 1st Jan 2023 for me, the cost per kwh was 63.05p with a discount of 31.84p, so I paid 31.21p/ kwh
The discounted rate is higher from January as the cost of electric increased, but customers were paying about the same. From April 1st 2023 this rate will change again, as will electricity costs.
EDIT: I see this has been answered since I started typing!
EDIT 2: It's a shame the customer service weren't of any help, seems a bit more common now.
