Escape to the country & living off savings

I have all my plants in pots. Look great, can change yearly and no digging (too old for that now ) . But it does take time. Everything garden related takes time. But flowers are so soothing to the soul, on the days when you need them, they are sitting there sweetly to lift your mood5

Your pots sound lovely Tresinia ☺️ I’m no good with pots other than my tumbling toms in my hanging basket. I’m the sort of gardener that shoves stuff in the ground, waters it and then hopes for the best 😂
I have been round to dads and cut the grass & trimmed the shrubs. It came over very dark but didn’t rain.Have been to the chippy and treated myself to fish chips and mushies £6.20 😋 from my holiday pot. Hope you enjoyed your chippy! That's really cheap, it's more than that for just a piece of fish here!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Thanks jwil ☺️ Was yum 😋 Lunchtime special. Small fish but very thick white flakes of cod & enough chips for me. It is much cheaper here than I used to get down south.I have looked at bulky waste collection by my council as suggested by @MovingForwards but hazardous waste/ chemicals/ solvents / paints etc are not accepted 😕 If we cannot get rid of the double bed with no fire labels (2 x halves of base & mattress) plus sofa / 3 piece it is classed as 6 items 🙄
1-4 items £25.50
5-8 items £42.00
To be honest it’s probably worth it.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

DS arrived safely and was good to see him if only for an overnight visit on his way home from work. We used a voucher code I had for dominooes free large pizza and just ordered some sides to go with it for delivery.Today DS is going to help with some heavy lifting then he is treating us to carvery before he goes home.My cousin phoned me last night and said he knows a charity that takes old mattresses and breaks them up, selling the metal for scrap and the fabric for rags. He will come with his van & trailer when we are ready. 😊0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Sya, really, really good news about the mattresses. We had this issue, could get rid of anything but mattresses. Most councils won't accept them or they refer you to a specialist provider. I'm glad you found a recycling solution1

True, I meant @Skint_yet_Again but had just visited SA's diary. But...my point stands...

Thanks Tresinia, DIA and MeandO 😊
I have been at my sons all week and it’s likely I will be needed at least another week. Have enjoyed meeting up with friends and cuddles and walks with puppy dog & golden child 🐕🐕
I have ordered my repeat prescription at the local pharmacy here and they will text me when it’s ready to collect later today. The weather has been lovely all week but raining today. Meeting more friends for lunch today and tomorrow. Now I am here next week I will hopefully be able to meet up with some others.A warning light appeared on my car the day after I arrived but then disappeared. I may book into a garage next week to have the code read so I can make sure it’s nothing drastic. Car is running and driving fine but knowing my luck it would break down in the middle of the M25 😳0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
