Best price for heating oil?

Interesting what you just said about the tanks full.:money:
Once the holidays are over I will be contacting trading standards and MP's etc to try to get to the bottom of what I feel is an unreasonably high kerosene price, certainly on mainland UK.
ps Why is heating oil cheaper in NI than the rest of the UK?0 -

Perhaps more competition amongst the oil suppliers, ie only got gas in Belfast, plus there aint any regulators for home heating oil (unlike electricity/gas).....so they can do what they want!!!
PS In N Ireland, electricity prices are a mere...80% dearer than in France for example!!
PPSS 85% of electricity in France is generated by NUCLEAR power........somebody take the hint!0 -
I went to a meeting a year ago extolling the virtues of renewable energy sources ie wind power etc.I was ready to be convinced, but came away feeling that nuclear, for all its problems is the only way forward if we want reliable energy sources!
Still going to do a bit of digging about heating oil prices though.0 -
I've joined this forum to ask if anyone has any ideas how to apply pressure to have the price of heating oil reduced in line with the fall in general oil prices?
As usual, london based government has no thought for rural dwellers, who have limited choices for heating fuel. How do we lobby?0 -
Don't agree with your comments about rural dwellers. We are all in the same boat, town or country on this as we are in most things(and I live in the country).
As I live in Wales I will be writing initially to my AM and I will expect to speak to Westminster.
I suggest you write or email your MP.This has to be a sensitive issue at the moment which is not getting aired.I am reluctant to point finger until I know full facts, but I cannot understand why oil price is so high and varies so much. But I have my suspicions.
Incidentally from my window I can see 2 refineries and I am paying about £50 more for 500l than in NI and £30 more than Norfolk.
I may also contact Age Concern as I have just reached 60 .0 -
ps I will post on here if I get some responses.:money:0

Happy New Year All
I've been quoted (today) between 36p and 38p per litre from local companies for 1000litres.
My last delivery (1st week Oct 08) was 50.5p so quite a drop.
However - what do people reckon about the current Middle East coflicts?
......I think it will go upAnnie
A party without cake is merely a meeting.0 -
I Live in Norfolk
I've just paid £228.11 for 500 litres
The last 500 litres lasted us 5 weeks!
I really don't know what to do to cut back anymore, We only ever have about half the number of radiators on anyway. We have had the heating on for longer over Christmas but normally its only on for 2 hours in the morning and 4 at night. We use electric for cooking and an electric shower.
I'm working from home today I have a jumper, 2 fleeces, hat, scarf on a blanket around my legs and I'm still cold!
