Does anybody know (for sure) how long it tends to take home heating oil prices to reflect the current crude oil price? Does it lag behind by some weeks? With crude oil now below $50 per barrel, I would have expected heating oil prices to drop. Indeed, the graph on Boiler juice led me to expect a price of around 41p/litre. However, a quote from them was over 48p per litre! How long should we wait before the price of heating oil will drop to reflect the current economic climate?

The price is reflected on a daily basis, phone up today get a price. Phone up tomorrow you will get another price.

    Look at this

    http://www.ft.com/markets/commodities

    For general movement of oil.

    http://www.ft.com/home/europe

For $ movement against the £

Increase in oil + $ getting stronger = Price increase

Decrease in oil + $ getting stronger = Either depending on difference

Decrease in oil + $ getting weaker to the £ = Price decrease
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

  • Does anyone know whether the recent VAT changes affects heating oil as it's only 5%?
  • No change - not allowed because of the EU apparantly!
  • Got mine today for 38.5ppl, this after I was going to switch to Boilerjuice. O.J. Williams quoted 6ppl more than BJ on their website, but when I phoned to tell them I was going to change they told me the price if I were to order- actually 4ppl less than BJ!? This after months of anxiety and hoping oill would get below 40ppl!
  • Just bought 1,000 litres at 36p plus VAT

  • just had 500ltrs delivered at £207, thought it was ok. Have been with tiny amount of oil for over a year now and decided to bite the bullet.

We've just had 2000l for 45.5p/litre (inc VAT). This is almost exactly the same as we paid in January.
  • If you are a senior citizen you may like to ring Goff Oil they give a discount to o.a.p. I was quoted just over 36p a litre for 1000 2 days ago rather good I thought
