Ulster application

  • Anyone heard anything since posting back the weirdly worded application form to NI? Partner applied day after me and received no form, but a link by text and email to go through the HooYu process.
  • Just had an interesting discussion with live chat. Apparently you DID have to return ID & documents in the envelope (ORIGINAL documents at that, not photocopies). No mention of it in the letter. Apparently it’s random whether you are selected for online verification or postal. Just my luck :(

thats strange as they 1. do not ask for documents for id or 2. provide a list of what id they accept, mine went in the post with just the form signed, will see what happens. not going to be sticking original  ID in the post certainly not untracked, so if thats what they do ask for down the line well i will forgo this application.

That makes no sense. Why on earth would you send original documents in an untracked envelope when you weren't asked for them in the letter? A lot of these chat agents have no idea. I sent the form back yesterday. Not asked for ID, just sent back what I was asked to send back which is the form.

Yeah I certainly won’t be sending my original ID to them in the post. I saw something on the envelope about ID but I just followed what I was told to do in the letter, which was sign the form and send it back. And I think it did say on the envelope if requested.

I suspect the person on the live chat overspender22 spoke to might not have known what they were talking about and maybe just blagged an answer.
  • Just got a text from my old bank account that I opted to switch from saying: we’ve accepted your request to switch to another provider’. Assuming that means my Ulster account is accepted and being opened?

    I would say so yes.

I have just received a text from Ulster stating "your current account is now open.   Your welcome pack detailing the conditions and benefits of your account will be with you in the next 10 days" so looks like they have progressed mine to (which isn't to bad considering they must have only received the returned signed form yesterday or today.
