Totally agree on the football boots - I only bought new for my yoof when he was playing regularly. My youngest (who despises anything sport related) is happy with hand me downs for the obligatory 6 weeks in PE lessons. I'd check FB or school parents FB groups too or if you've got any friends with older kids if they have any hand me downs.LBM Oct 24

badmemory said:Do not get me started on many schools uniform policies. When I was at school only grammar schools had a school uniform, secondary school pupils had to know who to laugh at. Actually back then they didn't & I had friends in both. An aside comment on the school uniform, my mother saw a summer dress from the designated supplier & said did they call that a gathered skirt. Then they brought in school uniforms for other (secondary) schools & it was a good idea because it stopped all the "we can afford logo stuff". Everything was fine for a few years. Then they brought in academies & they brought in the designer priced uniforms to make sure that their new students parents could afford to pay for everything they could possibly charge for.It just shows how much what was a really good idea can be hijackedJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Ouch to the shoe shopping. Good idea about the football boots. They give me the rage as here they are only worn a handful of times as mine aren't at all interested in football outside of PE.
@badmemory I agree about school uniform. I'm a supporter of it, but there shouldn't be any reason why supermarket uniform is not perfectly suitable, with maybe a branded school tie or a badge that can be sewn on to jumpers etc.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

A week till payday. I've now got access to my banking app again. I've enough in the house repair account for the windows and brickwork. School stuff is paid for, 2 out of 3 kids hair cuts are done and I've the week's food shop to buy. I'm aiming to finish the month at about -150 but the back pay will cover that. Anything I've spent on the c card is included in that calculation. Then it's full steam ahead to rebuild the pots again.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I am going to have a root this weekend and get all the kids old boots/trainers etc on there hopefully it's a good time as a few might have the same idea! We have been paid early today due to the BH which usually I would be thrilled about but now its an extra week until next payday is all I can think ofLBM Aug 25 - CC £14912 Other £19180
