Well I've survived the sleepover so far. It was so hot overnight though.
I'll chill out and check on finances today I think. Eldest I think may continue to hide in his room till later 😂
I've paid the deposit on the building work (rebuilding brickwork at front of house and new window) no turning back now. Excited to have no draughts or damp at front of house this winter once it's fixed but also very nervous. To a tradesman it's a regular job- to me it's a hole in our house while they do it. Eeek

Ooh when does the work begin?  It will be much better once done and all draft proof for winter I am sure.

Also well done for making it through the sleepover (my worst nightmare) and I don't blame eldest for staying out of the way until later.

He's a boy they were girls. I have to say apart from the giggling and chatting having a girl sleepover was easier than his previous boy ones. It was their first so at least I've now ticked the box of them having done something their brother has been allowed to. And the weather was nice so we were on the local park till dusk which helped!
Work is in 3-4 weeks weather dependent -once window frame etc all built. We are having the brickwork of the bay rebuilt as it has a massive crack in it and the upstairs and downstairs bay windows are being replaced. Don't buy a house that needs bay windows replacing folks. Costs way more than a rectangle window. 😂. We've lived here ages and it's needed doing for a while. Hoping we will see a difference this winter.

  • We have four sets of bay windows so I feel your pain. The downstairs ones are a 108 in curtain drop to just beyond the top of the radiators.

I need my bay windows doing 😬 I have three in the bay rather than some of the neighbours who seem to have a lot more angles and windows than us. I haven't got a quote yet but am dreading it.

We've been putting it off but the cracks and the smell of damp means it can't wait much longer. Five mini windows per bay here if that makes sense. I just hope it all goes to plan and the house doesn't fall down 😂

Well done on getting through the sleepover, and for finding the time to read!

Exciting about the building work, I bet it will make a huge difference.

Had a day at the beach yesterday. Kids enjoyed it and it was slightly cooler than other days so a good time to go. I was very mse and went to their Lidl for snacks and drinks so it wasn't a shocking day out pricewise. We have a LiDL  fairly close to home but I've never really shopped there. Might be worth a look. The fruit and veg at our local Aldi isn't lasting more than a couple of days at the moment and my Asda delivery pass runs out today. Aside from the convenience of a delivery I'm not in a rush to renew it. The delivery staff are lovely but the app, the organisation and timekeeping has been dire recently.  We are lucky in that I have a choice of Sainsbury's Asda Aldi Lidl and a mini Morrisons within 10 mins drive. It's just finding the time to go. 😂
