Child b day party to go to later today. We have had four invites in the space of a month between all the kids. That's not helped the budget but they are going to completely different experiences with friends from school as a result so I don't mind too much. It's keeping us busy that's for sureJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I have teenage grandson living with me. I can recommend the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. He's learned to cook, he's volunteered with younger kids, learned to read maps and helped rescue some other participants when there was a heavy downpour and some tents collapsed as water poured through, he was on higher ground so safe. Taking gran to Buckingham was nice as well.NeverendingDMP said:It was a success. The two youngest came with me and filled my bag. I've got a handful but between us allwe have loads. Got a horrible histories box set which one is engrossed in as I type. I've about 8. I'd have bought way more but it was busy and hard to manoeuvre the kids round. And they filled my shopping bag for me quick enough 😂 17 books, the boxset, a map and a jigsaw for £20. (Map as I feel we are loosing basic survival skills due to tech). One day I may persuade the kids to learn what to do with it ha ha3 -

Thankyou. Not much planned shopping cooking cleaning and hopefully some relaxing. We live close to three motorways that all meet. They all had tailbacks yesterday which means where we live can often go to a complete standstill as well. It doesn't inspire us to venture that far on bank holiday weekends as a result unless we have too!jwil said:Enjoy your time off! I just had a 2 day week this week - even better

Relaxing is very much needed too. We rarely venture far on bank holidays either, as it all gets blocked up very easily!NeverendingDMP said:

It was a great experience and lovely to share it with him. He says the award is half mine as he couldn't have done it without me which makes me feel a bit choked up. It wasn't very money saving by the time I bought a new outfit, hotel overnight and train fare but it was worth it. I'm very proud of him.NeverendingDMP said:
