Following your journey and sending mental strength your way.
Many years ago I had a partner who had no concept of moderation himself. I distinctly remember having to ask a supermarket for a refund on cans of baked beans to afford enough for baby formula. That was my low point but it still changed nothing for him.
I know how it feels, I just wanted you to know that many of us have been there and survived, please don't be afraid to use that community pantry again, you can make some great meals from a tin of stewed steak, chicken in white sauce, or ham. They are funded by local council with the money we used to get paid directly into Universal Credit - plenty of people use these services in less need than you.
Sending positive thoughts your way. xx

There's also Too Good To Go, and you could see if there's a community fridge near you - those are about reducing food waste, so anyone can use them. My local one would be a good source of bread and bananas but they also get a range of other stuff as well.
You're doing great xx"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Hi just wanted to say how well you are doing. Years ago I was like you now I'm retired with no mortgage or debt and kids all grown up and independent, it does get easier eventually.
I honestly think schools need a reality check about what they are expecting as it seems really unrealistic.
One easy way I e found to fund my Christmas food bill is jam doughnut. It's a site where you buy gift vouchers for shops like Sainsbury's or Asda as well as M&S. You only get 2 or 3% but it adds up. As a pair of pensioners I currently have £40 in my account so you would make much more. It is easy to use, I was a bit nervous at first but it is good, it also makes it easy to manage your shopping budget, I just top it up at the start of the month. Hope that might be a little help3 -
I use JD too for Cash back and a few % off my shopping. If you're shopping in the big SM anyway it's worth doing as it builds up quickly. I downloaded the app for it so it's always on my phone.
Hope you have a good week off.
No advice for the husband as I had one just like yours but mines now an ex. Big hugs you're doing a great job.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
